Focus on the outcome they get when they buy…

And make that the click.

For example, with one of my clients, we are not just saying “Tap here to join my next Accelerator Group”….

We say “Tap here to start adding 6 figures of revenue to your business too”.

WARNING:

Many businesses overlook their conversions.

Seriously.

It’s addictive to instead add new offers… get new leads…

What if you hired Batman for your marketing?

Batman, or Bruce Wayne, is fit, runs a billion-dollar company, and even has a butler.

But marketing?

I wouldn’t hire him.

You should not either.

Because Batman spends billions to solve problems.

Who cares if Batman helps you earn $1,000,000 if it costs your business $1,000,000 to make it happen?

Marketing is about getting maximum return from limited resources.

Even if you have Bruce Wayne money…

You’d still prefer to make $3 for every $1 you spend versus breaking even.

Or going negative.

Right? I hope so!

That’s why with my clients I focus on the low hanging fruit first.

Most businesses I work with aren’t looking to break the internet with a cold traffic funnel.

That can take 6 months and $10,000-$15,000 in ad spend alone.

Versus leveraging email, you can turn your subscribers into superfans and get them to buy your offers for pennies.

Like I did with Dustin Riechmann.

When we started working together, he had a list of under 600 people.

Our first month together, we closed over $15,000 in new revenue just from email.

But you can quickly replace them.

You can close sales from pretty much anywhere after that.

All you need is an audience.

Last night I had brownies for dinner.

And I still lost 5.1 pounds in the last 7 days.

Like last quarter I focused on growing my recurring revenue.

My MRR grew 6x in the last 30 days. 

And that’s while I was buying a new home… rescuing a new dog (at 3 now)… renovating my current home… and doing everything else.

I just focus on:

1. Doing good work for clients.

2. Sharing what I do to attract new people.

3. Chatting with people when they’re ready to get new clients.

I can mess everything else up and still keep growing.

The same is true for you too :)

What are some effective ways to grow recurring revenue?

How can I balance personal tasks and business growth?

Nothing like hot chocolate on rainy days while onboarding new clients.

“But I do not want to be salesy on LinkedIn.”

Then don’t be!

Many personal brands I work with want inbound leads… sales… sold out groups…

But they don’t want to ask for sales.

And for good reason.

If you ask for sales the wrong way on LinkedIn, you can lose a lot of trust.

But when you do it the right way?

You’re flooded with the best clients.

You know the ones ;)

The strategy I’ve used with brands like Matt Gray, Les Brown, Jay Shetty and others is to:

Give in public & sell in private.

Tactically, it means more than asking people to DM you.

It’s about helping your audience before they reach out to you…

And getting their permission!

DMs are a simple way to do this.

A more powerful way is with your email newsletter.

Through email theres no algorithm.

There’s less noise.

And you can get replies for deeper conversations as well.

Do you solely rely on referrals and content for leads?

Or do you have a strategic newsletter to add a consistent flow of sales too?

Branding is exploding in popularity lately.

You see all the usual suspects promoting it; Gary Vee, Hormozi, and so on.

We’re “personal brands” now.

And this misunderstanding keeps most businesses broke.

Branding is creating a buying-reflex associated with you/your business.

The problem is this marketing is based on good vibes and associations- not sales.

Plus…

💡 Branding takes time to build.

💡 Branding takes considerable time or money or team (aka overhead).

💡 Branding, just like trust, can be lost in an instant.

Versus direct-response…

💡 Direct-response needs a few hours to turn a stranger into a buyer.

💡Direct-response can be created at your kitchen table in your underwear.

💡Direct-response can be built upon scientifically.

While marketing isn’t as black and white as direct-response OR branding…

If you want more sales, you’re missing more direct response.

Take email for example.

You can share thought leadership pieces.. free content.. valuable resources… and still be broke.

There are too many “influencers” to count with large audiences and tiny bank accounts.

But when you present offers, talk about pain points, and add proof… you get sales.

It’s not hugely public.

It’s not glamorous.

But it is wildly profitable.

Are you promising magic?

Or are you getting sales?

The golden standard is long enough to make your point… 

… yet short enough to get attention.

This is true for emails, videos, and all your other copy too!

I was talking about this with a client this week:

No matter what marketing you’re creating… the end result is more leads.

You might call them prospects, inbound DMs, booked calls, or something else.

The goal is getting a response.

Even if you’re chasing branding, you still want engagement.

You want to be the person your audience thinks of when they have a problem you can solve.

So, what happens when this breaks down?

You need new messaging.

Mr. Beast says this really well, “Anytime you say the word algorithm, just replace it with audience”.

Similarly, if you are not getting the right type of leads or enough of them… it’s not the algorithm.

It’s your messaging.

It’s not connecting with your audience the way it needs to.

Just a reminder as we go into Q2 that it’s essential to let the calculator decide in marketing.

There’s a lot of noise when it comes to running your business.

At the end of the day, your business is doing well if you’re getting more customers (profitably).

That is why your moat is more important than ever.

During Covid I binge-read all of Warren Buffet’s letters- so do not worry.

Economic Moat = your ability to maintain competitive advantages over its competitors in order to protect its long-term profits and market share.

I share this because AI is growing.

Right now, there are tools to help you scale.

To off-load fulfillment and take more profit from your business.

But scale too much and you will lose your moat…

… because some 15 year old can just fire up a GPT and get your clients results.

How I get high converting funnels done in 2 hours or fewer from scratch.

I ran 50k in 12 hours and 5k in 28 minutes.

That’s 24x faster pace for 10% of the distance.

Building a whole funnel for a client takes me much much longer than sprinting through shorter milestones.

Sure, diminishing returns are still returns…

But why not just focus on effort and results and leave time out of it all together?

One of my clients bought a McLaren and his cost ped lead dropped 33%. 

Here’s why:

I do not recommend you go out to rent a super car.

Or a mansion. 

This is not about being authentic either.

It’s about recognizing your target market has certain wants.

Wants beyond the results you can get them.

Because business owners that will pay for your marketing systems… may also want to go on a vacation, or have a nice car, or afford a better house.

They may also want time to go rock climbing randomly during the week.

Or to get into baking extravant cakes every weekend.

Or binge-watch One Piece.

I share this because super cars are effective marketing not just because they steal attention.

It was a demonstration that this business owner has the lifestyle his market wants.

When you’re leveraging a personal brand to make high ticket sales you need to do this too.

But your assets probably are not super cars!

It may be your family. Your marriage.

It may be your hobbies.

For example, I don’t even have a car!

But I do live by the beach in Puerto Rico with my girlfriend Sandy and 3 dogs.

You cannot grow your business if no one knows you.

Build it by talking about what you do.

Here is how it works:

Lately, I laser focused on email sales systems for personal brands with all my marketing.

Referrals, inbound leads, and sales all increased.

The reason being, people who needed email help simply thought of me.

DIRECT RESPONSE- is about driving people to action.

Build it by creating tension through before and afters.

Here is what I mean:

I share frustrations, problems and even solutions my target audience has top of mind.

And I demonstrate how to solve that.

Whether it’s turning a tiny list into $15,000 in month in email revenue.

Or taking a “dead” list to get leads every day and sales every week generating another client over $181k in 90 days.

All that is missing is the call to action at the end. 😉

COMMUNITY- speaks to your customer’s identity.
