I had a great imagination and was never short of ideas. 

As I got older, (and technology starting evolving), I created videos for family and friends. 

Now that I'm an adult - I've reclaimed and embraced my imagination and creativity!

I'm worried about losing a longtime client this week.

Last weekend, I passed on an opportunity from a referral. 

I got on the freelance roster for a major publication. (stay tuned)

Yesterday, I had conversations about work with potential clients.

Today I have a call with a potential client I'm really excited about. 

Last week, my client said "no" to my new project proposal.

I'm waiting to hear if my article pitch was accepted.


This is the reality of freelance work. 🤪

And it's all happening in the span of one week.

PSA 🚫 We need to stop selling the idea that freelancing = freedom 

Ask anyone who's been at it for a while. 
They'll tell you it's not easy.

→  Impostor syndrome
→  Paying your own taxes
→  Managing multiple clients
→  Overthinking and self-doubt
→  Feeling attached to your inbox

Freelancing is way more than sending invoices with a tropical drink in hand.

You've gotta put just as much effort into your business as you do into the work itself.

This means taking on many other responsibilities and adopting a certain mindset.

As an adult, I’m realizing that much of my life was spent thinking something had to be “bad enough.”

My brain created a made-up checkpoint that felt like a really low point I had to drop to in order to make any changes.

It took me a while to reach that point when it came to my relationship with alcohol. 

There were lots of long nights filled with boozy mistakes. But I don't have many regrets because each one is part of my story.

There’s another story I still feel a little uncomfortable talking about.

It started at my therapist's office. We were chatting about how to better manage my time and my writing work.

Before heading to the appointment, I had divided my day into chunks of time, naming each one with the task I planned to tackle during that period.

In our sessions over the last year, we discussed my “time management,” which was the one thing I struggled with the most.

On that day, I was pleased with myself, and as I finished explaining my "new" process, she said: 

“Have you ever thought that you might have ADHD?”

I immediately felt the tension in my shoulders release. Without taking a breath, I said, “Ya know, I have.” 

This is the moment that changed so much for me. 

And it was only the beginning.

PS—Now that I've learned that much of how I am is explainable with ADHD, I see things in a whole new way. On that note, I have to get back to my work...but I'll probably do five other unrelated tasks first. 🤪
