This was the happiest & scariest moment of my life.

I had no money. 

Covid just wiped out a company I spent four years building.

I was broken.

& now I was gonna be a dad.

What did I have to offer my family?

I was left with a choice. Find a job? Or, as a recently qualified coach, move into coaching?

I gambled.

I knew coaching was my calling. 

& not only did I gamble, but I also doubled down on my gamble. 

I hired a marketing agency to build & launch a fancy funnel & run ads.

I was certain that soon money would be pouring in & all my problems would be solved.

It also failed.

Now I'll spare you the details, but the lesson learnt was don't run before you can walk.  

A costly lesson, as I now had £30k in debt… & was no closer to being able to support my heavily pregnant wife.

All thoughts I was ruminating on. 

I was at a low point. 

But I wasn't going to give up.

& I took one last gamble & invested in a coach.

That was an intersection where everything changed.

🚏An intersection when I stopped looking for the quick fix & started focusing on the unscalable - serving one person at a time

✅ I got focused. 
✅ I woke early. Primed. Every day. 
✅ I obsessed over my clients’ problems. 
✅ I created something every day to help them with those problems.
✅ I honoured the suck. I honoured the rejections. I didn't stop. I learned.
✅ I made it my goal to serve, create value & make offers - every-single-day.

4.30-5am wake, hot ginger, study the Tao Te Ching and journal on the day ahead

 6-7.30am walk in nature, qi gong and meditation

7.30am back to be a dad, get my girls ready, pack lunches and play

I’m sharing this not as a flex. But hopefully it may act as inspiration.

But what frees me from hiding and playing it safe is the reminder that I’m a good person. I mean well. And im committed to serving.

When you come from love. 
When you come from service.
You just can’t be wrong.

And when you are, just own it, take responsibility and learn from it.

Life is as serious as we make it, but being silly doesn't mean being insincere. It means embracing life fully, with all its quirks and twists.

Slow the f* down.

That urgency you feel to “lock in the sale”?

That’s the moment you’ve already lost.

Because urgency is often fear in fancy dress.

The neediness. The lack.

Instead → use urgency as a cue to pause.
To lead.
To go deeper.
To get curious.
To create more safety, more connection, more clarity.

This is how you stop being just another option.
And become the only option.

Slow your marketing down.
Slow your enrolment down.
And suddenly, price is no longer the friction point.

Because when someone deeply sees themselves in your work,
It’s no longer about cost. It’s about cost of not working with you.

The tension that broke me (before I learned to hold it):

Need money NOW vs Want sustainable growth

Most coaches can’t hold both. So they swing between feast and famine like a pendulum they can’t control.

Here’s what that looked like for me:

FEAST MODE: Hustle. Push. DM everyone. Land 5 clients. Feel amazing.

Then... deliver for those clients. Take my eyes off marketing. Stop creating content. Stop nurturing leads.

Contracts end.

FAMINE MODE: No clients. No pipeline. No warm audience. Panic. Repeat.

I watched myself do this for 2 years straight.

The solution wasn’t choosing one over the other.

It was learning to hold both tensions simultaneously.

Here’s my system now:

3 days for SHORT-TERM (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
→ Create content
→ Connect with people
→ Coach clients
That’s it. Nothing else.

1-2 days for LONG-TERM (Monday, Friday)
→ Build my Authority Flywheel
→ The system that creates clients while I sleep
→ The thing that ended feast or famine forever

This split changed everything.

Short-term pays the bills.
Long-term builds the empire.

Both. Not either.

Most coaches are so desperate for today’s client, they forget tomorrow exists.

Or they’re so focused on “building their brand” they forget rent is due on Friday.

You need both. Always both.

The Authority Flywheel I build on those long-term days? It’s what took me from the exhausting feast to famine cycle month to averaging $30k/mo.
