From where I stand as a founder, a builder, and a European, something fundamental is breaking - and I can’t stay silent anymore.

I see world-class talent stuck in systems that slow them down.
I see breakthrough ideas dying in committees.

And then you open X or the news:
Elon Musk warning of Europe’s “civilizational collapse.” 
Christine Lagarde insisting Bitcoin has “no intrinsic value.”
AI teams moving abroad because they can’t access the GPUs they need or get regulatory clarity.

I disagree with Musk. I disagree with Lagarde.
But I can’t disagree with the reality:
Europe is running out of momentum — fast.

And here’s the painful truth I’ve come to accept:
We’re not lacking talent.
We’re lacking freedom, speed, and permissionless creation.

A continent that once gifted the world steam engines, Bauhaus, quantum physics, and the printing press now exports:
Committees. Frameworks. Compliance manuals.

We’re not experiencing a shortage of intelligence —
we’re experiencing the death of spontaneous creation inside an over-regulated system.

Innovation used to be messy, rebellious, unsanctioned.
Today, even imagination requires permission.

And when you need approval to imagine, the imagination dies.
We optimized for safety instead of potential.

We prevented collapse — but sterilized vitality.

You can see it everywhere:
– Lagarde labels Bitcoin as worthless while global markets increasingly treat it as digital gold.
 – The UAE builds national real-estate registries on-chain, exploring tokenization while Europe barely notices.
 – AI founders leave because they can’t get GPUs or clarity for months.

We’re watching a system that rejects its own builders.
But that’s exactly where every renaissance begins.

After more than a decade helping corporates innovate through Innovationpunks, I’ve seen both sides — the vision and the paralysis.

And as a founder and European at heart, I chose to act instead of complain.
That’s why I joined Paralect as Strategic Advisor & Venture Partner, while building my own tech startup AWAYO, reimagining hospitality and nature experiences across Europe.
