When was the last time you used your own website like a customer? 👀

❌ Not as someone who knows exactly where everything is.

But like someone landing there for the very first time.


We see this all the time … gorgeous-looking websites that completely forget about the most important person:

 2. Pretend you’ve never seen it before.

3. Try and find the one thing your customer’s most likely looking for.

Today’s a co-working kinda dayyyy 🫶 


In Manchester, with good coffee and even better company ✌️

I’m at Ducie Street Warehouse today with Daniel Poll and genuinely, it’s so nice to break out of the usual WFH routine.

Yes, I had to drag myself out of bed an hour earlier 😫😂

But once I’m here, it’s always worth it.

🖤  Proper change of environment
🖤  Someone to chat to between calls
🖤  A lunch break that’s sociable
🖤  No longer staring at the same 4 walls 

I already feel more productive. I would say when you do choose to go co-working, make sure it’s with someone who’s a grafter too. The energy rubs off, trustttt me 🫡 

I’m not saying I could do it every day (I’m far too obsessed with my bed for that 😅)

But every now and then, I’m always game for it. 

This is why I love having the freedom to choose what I want to do with my days at MadeByShape - WFH, studio, café, abroad … wherever 💭

Let me share my biggest website pet peeve 🍕🍔🥐.



And I’ve actually experienced this a lot.
I love going out for food.
Favourite thing to do 😝


I’m one of those annoying people who plans their order in advance –
Starters, mains, desserts, cocktails, the lot.

I do my research. I want to get excited.


So you can imagine my face when I go to check out the menu and:

👉 I can’t find it anywhere
👉 After 5 minutes of scrolling, I finally find it
👉 I open it and it’s a grainy PDF 🙃
👉 Or worse, there’s no menu at all, and I’m digging through Google reviews hoping someone’s posted a blurry pic 😅

It puts me off. Completely.

And the worst part is that some of these places do incredible food 😍

But people won’t even give them a chance because of that poor online experience.

👉 If I can’t read your menu on my phone without zooming in 12 times, we’ve got a problem.

 👉 If your site isn’t intuitive, your customer’s already forming opinions.

Your website doesn’t just “support” your business.
It's the first impression.
Even in hospitality.

Good food deserves good design too 🍔

There’s a fair few websites out there that look like they say a lot but actually say nothing 🚩




Paragraphs of fluff. Buzzwords on buzzwords.

And not a single clear reason to stick around.

We see it all the time:

🫠 “We offer innovative, scalable solutions…”
🙄 “Empowering brands to unlock their potential…”
😵‍💫 “Leveraging synergy to drive digital transformation…”


Buttt what does that even mean? What do you even do? How are you going to help??? 😟

If your website can’t explain what you do – in under 10 seconds then consider yourself done 👋

📌 Clarity isn’t boring.
📌 Simplicity isn’t basic.

Because if your dream client doesn’t get it, they won’t get in touch.

A good website is one that knows what it’s there to do.

And makes it easy for people to do it 🤍

Genuine question: Is social media doing all the heavy lifting for your brand?



For some – it might be. 
But that doesn’t necessarily mean it should be doing ALL the work. 

At MadeByShape, we love showing our work on the likes of Instagram, LinkedIn etc …

It builds our brand. It builds trust. It gets a bit of traffic.

But when it comes to actual enquiries?
Here’s how it plays out:

👉 Website (organic SEO): ~70 enquiries/week
👉 LinkedIn: ~5/week
👉 Instagram: ~3/week

Social media’s ideal for getting eyes on your brand of course, but people don’t wanna be scrolling through 300 posts to find what they need. Or what they saw sometime last week. 

They want somewhere clear, helpful, and searchable.

That’s where your website comes in. A place where people can find exactly what they’re looking for. 

I’m not saying stop posting those carousels. 

Just make sure there’s a solid place for people to circle back to you when they want to know more 👩‍💻
