I don’t think LinkedIn is the right platform for my business anymore.

I’d spend an hour writing a post and then crickets.

1-𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: It should be clickbait-y, controversial, pique curiosity, or scream, "This is value you DO NOT want to pass up."

2-𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁/𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝟭 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻: When you write to and think about 1 person, it resonates better because you hit on real challenges and elicit 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 emotions.

3-𝗕𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹: Focus on actionable and useful content that produces quick wins.

4-𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁: The top half of your post should keep your reader engaged. Keep it succinct and interesting.

5-𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲: You're working with smaller margins when writing for mobile, so be concise, break up your lines, and bite-size your content.

6-𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀: Use your top-performing posts, client sessions, consultations, post comments, and personal experience back when you were your ideal client as inspiration for writing content.

7-𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Content that people can resonate with tends to perform the best. Aim to elicit some kind of emotion with your posts.

8-𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲: Don't include too many details so that the overall premise of your message doesn’t get lost in translation, and so you don’t bore your reader.

Early in my entrepreneurial journey, one of best friends said to me:

“You used to laugh and joke around a lot more. That's the Lakrisha I remember."

My response was: 

“Yeah... because I'm in survival mode."

Her response: 

“When you know that GOD provides, you won’t be in survival mode."

Her words resonated deeply - changed my life, in fact. 

It was the push I needed to know no matter how hard I do or don't work, GOD provides.

I have since closed my survival mode chapter, reignited my faith, and relaunched my self-care journey! 

My well-being AND business have been way better ever since!

Fun facts you may not know about my entrepreneur journey:

1-I lost my job 3 months into starting my business. I hadn’t even launched yet. 

2-I had a completely different business in mind when I first started my journey (“Manicube,” an office design brand). 

3-I’ve pivoted within my first brand at least 20 times. 

4-I’ve pivoted within my current brand at least 5 times (more to come?).

5-I’ve pivoted brands 3 times (first, office design; then, career development; finally *maybe*, business mentoring).

6-I went from running an agency with a team of 8, to it just being me and my VA. 

7-I applied for a job a year in because entrepreneurship had burned me out, didn't get the job, and took it as a sign to keep going.

Moral of the story,

-The journey hasn't been easy or straight but it's worth it. 
-Fall in love with the process, not the goal💗
-No one is exempt from the process. 
-It’s OK to start over and dream new dreams.
