Supporting the store manager was very important to me, acting as their right-hand person. I thrived in an energetic work environment where I stayed busy throughout the workday. I was responsible for the fruit and vegetable and dairy departments. Several times, I had full responsibility for the entire store. How I landed a job by being weird?

I moved to Norway in 2013,

Me no speak norwegian. 

But I landed a job after 3 months!

Long story short:

- the guy asked way too much for a small job.
↪️ That pissed me off, so

I told him -> “Hire me, and I’ll show you how fast I can learn Norwegian and I will be able to be your assistant manager in less than a year.”

He replied in 10 minutes.

We had a chat the next day.

What do you think happened?

I did become his assistant within a year. 
We worked together for 5 years. 
He gave me a profession, 
I learned Norwegian, 
We’re still friends
And fish together.

P.S. I wanted a job so badly I became weird, and it worked.

(I’m transitioning to marketing. I did send some weird applications out… can’t wait!)

P.S. Transitioning from one career to another is tough

Stop blaming the algo.

LinkedIn wants you to spend as much time as possible 

On their platform, but that's not all, they aim for:

1. comment, engage (1-2 hours)
2. network with your audience
3. provide value
4. help others
5. be active
6. be nice

I wish I could spend more time here.

Put in as many hours as you can, 
be effective, 
And do these 6 points
⤵️
you will grow fast!

Don't be afraid to use what works for others

And reinvent as yours.

How it started as a freelancer

- I write on X
- I write my CV
- I write LinkedIn posts
- I write social captions
- I write down "ideas to write"
- I write blogs (not published yet)
- I write posts by using templates

2 months later: 

I finally have time to freelance, I finished my Marketing school (online), 
I write 15-20 hours weekly besides my 9-5 manager job.

It's tough, but it's supposed to be. 

And I apply a ton of remote work,
I do it every week:
• I landed only 2 so far

You can change what you do.

Nothing is permanent.

Don't worry.

My 6 biggest struggles as a new freelance copywriter:

1. Money
2. Motivation
3. Feeling alone
4. Having no portfolio
5. Knowing what to charge
6. Dont feel like Im good enough
   
Anyone reading this who has the same struggles, here's my advice:

1. Work 9–5 and freelance for financial stability
2. Post daily on LinkedIn to avoid cold reach
3. Ask LinkedIn users for help
4. Work for free to grow your portfolio 
5. Ask other copywriters what they charge
6. Learn from comments and improve

What else do you struggle with?

Number 4 I did only a short time, cuz of my 9-5 job

These 6 points started to pay off cuz of consistency.

3 tips to write concisely without spending $1000 on courses

1. Play dumb:
   - the dumber your language, the better
   - more people will understand it
   - it will take less brain-power to read it
📌 Write like you're writing for a 7-year-old.

2. Cut the fluff:
   - If the word doesn't add anything, cut it
   - and takes more time to read it
📌 Quicker and easier.

3. Write short sentences:
   - the new age digital writers will love me
   - keep sentences short. In 1s or 3s ideally
   - and make use of bullet points, not commas
📌 If you're using 2 commas in a sentence, start again.

People skim these days and get bored easily.

I barely read anything unless I know it's gonna be useful to me.

Don't waste anyone's time.

6 years ago, I met an international criminal.

She stayed at our hotel

And I even got to chat with her. 

No, no, I had no clue at that time who she was!

I was a manager for a tiny hotel, one day she walked in 

And ask for a room for a night.

A bored old fellow lived across the street called the hotel; 

And saying that he is 99% sure of that

I just talked to an international criminal outside of the hotel.

I looked it up quickly, and yes, he was right. 😳

My boss said, we dont do anything because that time was nothing 

Against her. I only made sure that all the cameras were working well.

We chatted a lot, she was kind, didn't go out of the hotel, and paid for her room in cash.

She left early the next morning, and I left a note for me:

"I knew that you found out about me quickly, and I appreciate that you didn't do anything about it. 
I enjoyed your company; you are a nice young guy."

I had a strange but good feeling about what just happened. 🙂

Lesson: 
You never know who you will meet or when; be open minded and don't judge quickly.

P.S. she did steel a bottle of wine, I just smiled, I guess that makes her who she is. (its in her blood)

“Quality over quantity”?
Might not be the best advice.

Here’s why:
	•	quality is crucial
	•	numerous low-quality efforts often fail
	•	opt for quality if you must choose

You don’t always have to choose just one!

Aim for both, as it’s usually the better choice:
	•	create excellent quality content
	•	send out a lot of quality job applications
	•	Send a ton of quality networking messages

Why settle for one when you can successfully achieve both?

P.S. Getting though with a full-time job and 1 client…. Transitioning! But how?
