I miss when LinkedIn felt like a street where neighbors actually spoke. You could bring a rough idea, sand it with a few edits, and leave with conversations you wanted to continue. 

Lately it feels like a mall food court at closing time, everyone shouting the same menu in slightly different fonts, promising miracles with zero calories of thought.

I keep seeing the same choreography: copy, paste, polish, post. 

Then the complaint: “impressions are down”, as if the algorithm stole the punctuation marks. 

The truth is dull and unmarketable: writing takes sweat. 

I still sit there and argue with a sentence until it stops lying.

5 ideas in one post isn’t depth. It’s ego.

You think you’re showing range.
You’re just showing confusion.

I see it all the time, smart founders stuffing ten years of experience into one post, thinking it’ll sound “thought-leadery.”

Here’s what actually happens:
- You assume readers already know what’s in your head
- You try to squeeze too much in, and they check out halfway
- You believe cutting it shorter makes it clearer, it doesn’t

Result?
Nobody remembers what you wanted them to feel or do.

“If I can’t sum up your post in 1 sentence, your buyer can’t either.”

Last week I cut a founder’s 800-word post into 3 shorter ones.
Each had one simple message.

Result: more saves, more DMs, and two new leads in 10 days.

Clarity wins. 
Every. Single. Time.

So before you hit publish, ask yourself:
→ Who am I talking to?
→ What’s the one thing I want them to remember?

I was halfway through my 2nd coffee when the offer arrived.
“30% lifetime commission,” it promised.

It sounded generous, like someone offering to split a dessert they’d already half-eaten.

But then I read the fine print.

1) The cookie window was shorter than most relationships I’ve had with a Wi-Fi signal.
2) 60 days before payout.
3) No protection if someone else clicked first.
4) No tools, no guardrails, no seat at the table.

It wasn’t a partnership. 
It was a wager disguised as one.

Somewhere along the way, we started mistaking risk transfer for collaboration.

We hand people shiny contracts and call them “partners,” while keeping all the levers behind our own desk.

That’s not trust. 
It’s theatre.

Real partnership is quieter.
It’s the unspoken: 
“I’ve got you covered,” 
not 
“I’ll pay you when I’m sure you won’t cost me.”

It made me think, how many of our relationships, business or otherwise, look fair only on paper?

How often do we call something shared when one side carries the weight?

I closed the email, finished the coffee, and realised:
sometimes, the clearest way to say no is to stop pretending it’s mutual.

One of those ‘abracadabra your growth’ schedulers slid into my inbox.

Day 30: I was certain.
Day 300: I wasn’t.
Real experts see 1 answer and 10 new paths.

It’s like watching a toddler put on a lab coat and declare themselves a surgeon, adorable, until someone hands them a scalpel.

I used to play that game.

The “fake it till you make it” mask felt safer than admitting, “I don’t know.”

But then I stumbled across the Dunning-Kruger effect:

A mental trick where the less you know, 
the more you believe you’re an expert.

I see it daily.
The less someone understands, the more they puff up their chest.

Real experts doubt themselves and test their ideas.

Darwin called it:
Experts doubt; rookies don’t.

I’ve lived both sides.

Fresh out of school, I thought I was a rocket scientist, blaming every crash landing on someone else.

Now, with years on the job, each answer leads to more questions.

Here’s the twist:
The true skill isn’t dodging Dunning-Kruger. 

It's catching yourself in the moment and choosing humility.

How often do you question your own confidence?

No one’s counting your LinkedIn posts.
No one’s checking your grammar.
It’s not... 
a school test.

It’s more like a busy coffee shop, everyone’s just doing their thing.

Most people are worried about their own stuff, not your posts.

You don’t have to write every day.
You don’t have to use big words.
You don’t have to look smart.

Just post.
Comment.
Have a laugh.

That’s how you make real friends here.

Hoping pixels will save your words?
You’re making the fakeness louder.

Go look at your favorite big creators.
Scroll 20 posts deep.

See any AI-perfect portraits or surreal Canva art?

If the answer is no…
you don’t even need to read the rest of this post.

You already know what to do.
Use that time you waste on prompts and polishing to fix your message instead.

Write clearer.
Cut the fluff.
Say one thing well.

Then add a real picture:
You at the desk, You on a walk,
You with your messy kitchen and tired face.

That’s human. That’s real.

AI makes your visuals fake and your whole story feels like a mannequin in the window, looks sharp, feels empty.

Try this instead:
- 50% selfies → eye contact builds trust
- 50% raw life shots → let people step into your world

People don’t follow perfect pixels.
They follow you.

Stories aren’t for “creative geniuses.” That’s the lie I swallowed for years.

I was close to throw up 4 times today cuz of the same: “look what I did” moment
The one with start

“I made $6,000 in my first month.”

They leave out the 14 months that mattered.

So, no, man. You didn’t.
You made it in your 15th month.

The 14 before that were full of panic, free work, rejection and late-night “is this even worth it?” moments.

And that’s fine.

That’s the truth.
But why twist it?

Saying “1st month” makes it sound like luck, not work.

It’s like when a kid brags, “I baked this cake myself,” while Mom cleaned the mess, mixed the batter, and set the timer.

We all crave the dopamine hit.
It’s human. 
I get it.

But when you fake the timeline, you cheapen the win.

You didn’t just start.

You built. 
You failed. 
You learned.
Own that.

That’s the story worth telling.
