So for everyone here who is absolutely certain that you are on the side of good should perhaps step back and consider the possibility that you are wrong.

This is difficult, but necessary.

Sometimes it feels like the world has all gone mad.

I like to explore ideas, varied perspectives, historical context, all with calm intellectual humility.

But people online want me to "pick a side" and to be outraged.

I hope human civilization will survive for many millions of years, expanding indefinitely out into deep space.

Earth is precious, likely the best home for humans in the entire galaxy.

But given threats of nuclear war, engineered pandemics, etc, we need to have lots of backups.

We take awesome new things for granted way too fast.
