Outside of work, you’ll find me strolling through the streets of Berlin (probably with a cup of coffee), filming & editing videos, listening to music & podcasts, and drinking a whole lot of water.

4 years ago, he was CEO of one of the largest construction companies in Austria but had very little active presence online.

At 20 years old, I left my family in Switzerland to become a 'wannabe Instagram blogger.'

High school prepared me for a path I wasn’t sold on - I didn’t want to:

- Go to university
- Get a regular 9-5 job
- Live my life knowing I never tried to do my own thing

What I wanted was to:

- Find something I’m passionate about
- Fulfill my potential
- Inspire others who were in a similar situation

At that time my biggest inspiration was GaryVee.

I loved his take on personal branding and documenting the journey - so I wanted to do the same.

But I was hesitant.

I knew people in my hometown would judge me for “doing social media”.

So I:

- Took a gap year
- Left Switzerland
- Travelled to the US

And I documented my journey on Instagram & LinkedIn along the way.

Since I was so far away from home, I had a much easier time forming my new character.

But I still couldn’t avoid all the negativity.

I remember how 2 months into my journey, friends from Switzerland called to tell me I was the talk of the town 

→ “What is Marvin doing with this Instagram “Wannabe Influencer” Stuff?”.

Those words stung.

Luckily the pain didn't last long.

2 things that helped me:

1. Practicing awareness and regular reflection to detach
2. Being surrounded by people who encouraged me to keep going

(Being a 10-hour flight away from home also helped lol)

And who would have thought - it paid off.

Slowly, but steadily, I built new relationships, got my first clients, and ultimately started my own agency.

Today, I have:

- A 6-star team at notus
- Time & location freedom
- A vision to work towards
- Skills I didn’t have before
- A portfolio of 110+ awesome partners

And tons of fun doing it.

I still document the journey on Instagram and LinkedIn (+ YouTube coming up), but no one makes fun of me anymore. 

(At least not directly - and even if someone did, I couldn't care less)

3 big lessons I learned:

1. Someone else's judgment is just a projection of their own insecurities - not a reflection of reality
2. The most important thing is starting. The 2nd most important is not stopping
3. Treat content as an infinite game & have fun with it

This has been a painful subject for the past 16 months. 

But now it’s finally ready:

Our new website is up & running!

When I started notus, I didn't worry much about having a fancy website.

All of the traction I generated came through my LinkedIn profile.

Still, I felt like every business should have a website, so I set up a simple landing page that booked me some demos.

As notus grew, we began attending conferences and getting more exposure as a company.

I wanted our passion for content and high quality standards to be reflected by our website.

We designed a few prototypes, but the end product was:

- Overcomplicated
- Not user friendly
- Riddled with bugs

So we left it on hold and built a placeholder until someone could develop the final version.

And to be honest, I was ashamed of the message it sent to the outside world.

It didn’t represent how far we’d come and the talent of my team. 

The notus of today has evolved. 

We’ve:

- Refined our core DFY service
- Built and shared high-value Digital Products
- Revamped our pricing structure
- Created a library of actionable educational resources

It's time we had a website that properly reflects our mission & vision to the world.

For the past 6 months I've been working with Simon Ziri & Luca Gonzalez Sonst to finally revamp our website.

And today, I'm happy to announce that it’s live!

Here's how I created 10 high-quality LinkedIn posts effortlessly:

(so I could watch Switzerland beat Italy with peace of mind)

1. Schedule a call with another person (in my case it was my content strategist Max Radman)
2. Record the call (we use riverside)
3. Talk (about my business, current challenges, events and priorities)
4. Transcribe the conversation and identify relevant topics
5. Turn transcript into text-drafts
6. Edit drafts and add to my content calendar

Conversations bring knowledge to the surface like no other communication medium.

This is because we somehow are better at articulating our:

- ideas
- stories
- thoughts
- expertise

...when explaining them to another human.

Writing is a great medium to edit ideas, but talking is the best way to articulate them.

That's why the easiest way to create a lot of written content is to talk first.

This post is proof of this.

We created this piece of content from an internal content call, aka. natural conversation.

And we follow the same process with all of our clients at notus.

Since starting to work together 20 months ago, he:

- Grew his following to 9k
- Got tons of feedback & alpha testers for a new venture

Over 70% of my B2B dealflow is born in my LinkedIn DMs. (and I only spend 15 minutes a day there)

Here’s the simple account routine I use to turn my LinkedIn profile into our #1 B2B sales engine.

I have a harsh truth for you:

Posting content alone won’t generate revenue (at least not a lot)

Most of your prospects are lurkers, and won’t directly reach out to buy from you.
Granted, that’s a pretty big step.

What they’re more likely to do is either:

- send you a connection request
- like / comment on your post
- visit your profile

Luckily these are all trackable signals you can now use to start conversations with your ideal customer.

I’ve used these signals to generate multiple 6- figures in revenue for notus 

Here’s my 15 minute / day process:

1) I welcome every (relevant) connection request.

If it doesn't include a message, I ask why the person reached out in the first place.

E.g. "Thx for the connection request - curious to hear why you reached out?"

You'd be surprised how many people neglect this.

A costly mistake, yet easy to avoid.

2) I monitor my profile visitors daily.

If I see a relevant profile, I send that person a quick message asking how I grabbed their attention.

E.g. "Saw that you visited my profile - how did I grab your attention?"

This simple habit can lead to unforeseen conversations.

It's the reason I pay for LinkedIn Premium.

3) I check who liked my posts or left a comment.

If I don't know the person, I write them a short message thanking them for the interaction.

E.g. "Appreciate your recent interaction on my post. Any other topics you're interested in?"

This is also a great way to gather feedback from your audience and generate fresh content ideas.

These three simple activities take no more than 15-30 minutes a day.

But they contribute significantly to my business’ top-line.

Because at the end of the day, there’s already tons of interested ideal buyers out there.

They just need a little nudge.

So go out there and start nudging.

TLDR:

- Ask new connections why they reached out
- Ask profile visitors how you grabbed their attention
- Ask content-engagers for feedback

My 3-step guide to create monthly LinkedIn content without burning out (might be worth saving:))

Tired of staring at a blank page trying to figure out what to write about (and how to write it)?

Here’s how I overcome the dreaded blank page so I can consistently create authentic, high-quality content without investing 100s of hours per week or being “cringe”.

1. The Content Call

This is how you can come up with content ideas that are authentic to you (capture your tone of voice and experiences) AND are relevant to your audience.

• Schedule a call with another person (in my case it’s with my content strategist Max Radman)
• Record the call (we use Riverside)
• Talk (about your business, current challenges, events and priorities)
• Transcribe the conversation and identify relevant topics from your discussion

If you don’t have anyone to schedule a call with, treat it like a video journal. 

2. Content Outlining

This is where you:

• organize the ideas you gathered
• further infuse personality into the content
• and set some guidelines
  
Think of this like building the frame of a puzzle before you fill it in.

• Transfer each topic, any notes, and the associated transcript to separate Google docs or Notion
• Brainstorm hook ideas that evoke 1 key emotion and that contain specific details from YOUR story (numbers, facts, dates)
• Outline the key takeaways that you want the reader to remember from each post
• Add details about the context of your post (how you felt at the time, where you were, who influenced you, etc.)

3. The writing process

This is where most people get stuck.

It’s a two step process that many people try to do in one:

1. Drafting, experimenting, creativity
2. Editing, trimming, refining

It’s impossible to be creative and editorial simultaneously.

First, you draft.

Don’t worry about being perfect. 

Start writing and putting pieces of information together in different ways. 

Experiment.

You’ll start to see how the post comes together as you fill in gaps in the text.

Once you’ve got a draft that:

• has a hook, body, and CTA
• evokes 1 strong emotion
• has a linear story
• focuses on 1 topic

then you can go back and polish it.

Add a picture or video of yourself to complement the text, and you’re ready to publish.

Like every new skill, your first few tries will take time (it was the same for me). 

I promise, with practice, and by following these steps, you’ll be spitting out banger LinkedIn posts before you know it!

I’ve never been more excited about where notus is than now.

Here are 2 takeaways from our quarterly all-hands meeting.

1. Q2 Review

Q2 was a phase gaining back momentum after an intense 2023 wrap up.

Despite some restructuring, we were able to:

• send out our first newsletter
• launch our new website
• set our new pricing
• retain 95% of our existing clients
• successfully kick-off 5 new projects

and onboard 2 new team members!

I haven’t been this hyped about the combined potential of a group of people.

We’re taking all this firepower into the next quarter.

2. Q3 Outlook

With regained clarity and momentum - it’s time to get to work.

Some of our goals for Q3 are:

• hire 2 content strategists (dm if you want to join our core-team)
• leverage our digital products
• launch internal personal brands

We just touched down in Switzerland.

The next 2 weeks will be family, friends & business.

Joining me on the “Tour de Suisse” is our beloved Head of Fulfillment Luca Wetzel

• drink ridiculously expensive coffee
• create as much content as humanly possible

Among business meetings, I also want to take the time to spend time with family and friends.

Nobody actually needs company core values.

They’re just fluff.

That’s what I used to think when it was just me and a couple of freelancers.

But over the past 5 years, I’ve worked with dozens of people and experienced the best & the worst.

I’ve:

• hired people
• fired people
• been screwed over by people.

In this process, I learned that without the right values, I can’t determine who the right people are. 

It wasn’t until years later, when I had a coaching session with my good friend and mentor Frederik Fleck , that I saw the true power of core values.

He told me to look at the current team members I appreciate and analyze what their patterns are.

On top of that, he asked me to envision what the dream notus team member would be.

• How would they think?
• How would they act?
• How would they live?

From there, my task was to reverse engineer the values this person represents.

Suddenly, it was an easy task.

Here are the notus core values I presented to the team at our quarterly all-hands last week:

1. Humility

No one knows it all.

Self-awareness and reflection are invaluable for a high-performing team.

• asking questions
• taking ownership
• cutting the ego

These are things we want to hold each other accountable for.

2. Curiosity

Everyone has a story worth telling.

And there’s always something to learn.

From asking your Uber driver questions

To talking to a B2B SaaS founder 

Curiosity drives us forward.

It’s the base of our job and key to our growth.

3. A-Players

The notus vision is to empower millions of people.

For that, we need a SWAT team that is:

• proactive,
• hungry to learn, 
• and loves taking ownership.

We expect everyone on the team to perform - most of all ourselves.

4. Transparency

We ALWAYS address the elephant in the room.

Our culture relies on real, open conversations.

This is how we can make quick iterations and grow together, even in a remote setting.

When something comes up, we address it immediately.

5. Positive Sum Games

Companies die when structures turn into toxic hierarchies.

For us it’s important to provide value internally, and give each other more leverage in return.

If you lift others, you lift yourself.

The pie only gets bigger as we grow.

6. Content Life

This one’s a double whammy.

We value good content, but we also value a content (aka. happy) life.

We believe that better content leads to better lives.

Which is why we are both avid content consumers & creators.

These values shape how we think, feel and act.

They’re the guiding principles on our mission.

Stop wasting your time creating LinkedIn content if you haven’t answered these 4 questions:

1. What is your current situation (what projects are you working on)?
2. What is your goal for the project?
3. Who will help you achieve your goal (your Ideal Customer Profile - ICP)?
4. Where does your ICP spend time online (which platform)?

These 4 questions make up the foundation of a strong personal brand strategy. 

The answers will give you a direction for your content creation and make sure you develop a consistent and cohesive brand.

Don’t get me wrong.

I think every founder and executive that wants to scale their business should start posting content.

But in order to fully reap the benefits that compound over time, you have to have clarity on:

• your goals
• the status quo
• who you want to reach

Strong brands built with purpose and intent attract the right people like moths to candlelight.

Personal brands with no direction are more like the flickering LED from a gas-station bathroom…

These questions are just the start of creating your media strategy.

Ben Francis (CEO of Gymshark) is doubling down on founder-led marketing - he’s hiring a full-time personal brand manager. Here’s why this is such a big deal:

Ben has used his founder brand to drive Gymsharks growth since the start.
