Over the past few months I have forwarded jobs that show up in my feed to 12 people in my network that are actively looking, 7 have now secured a job. Next time a role pops up on your feed think of someone who could be a fit. Networking doesn’t need to be that complicated and time consuming thing, you can make someone’s day with only a couple of clicks a day. Pay it forward.
This is what my gmail looked like last week. It took me 25 clicks to find emails I wanted to respond to instead of a couple. If you woke up like me a few weeks ago with a gmail that seemed way smarter (having sub inboxed for transactions, updates, primary) and everything we had asked for, but still shifted it back to the old view - you are not alone. This is the true challenge with AI: trust. And trust cannot be won overnight. Even when AI organizes your inbox better than you could yourself, the first question that hits is: “Where’s my stuff?” or “Did I miss something important?” It’s like waking up to a newly reorganized kitchen. Sure, it may make sense to put sugar by the coffee machine — but if you bake a lot, you want it next to the flour. What’s “logical” isn’t always “personal.” AI, for all its promise, still struggles to understand you as a whole: your context, your priorities, your intent. Maybe I was waiting for a spring clothing promo code for my kids. That’s high-priority to me but Gmail thought it belonged in Promotions which is now mainly my new spam folder. That gap, the 20% of the time when the system gets it wrong — is what drives distrust. Will we solve this? I believe we will. In the meantime, I’m back to the old inbox — but appreciating new features that are helping me build trust. I am a huge fan of the new Gmail search surfacing emails from frequent contacts or most-clicked messages or seeing calendar invites mentioned in my email automatically added to my calendar. 👏 Change is coming. Trust takes time. #gmailredesign #gmail #google
