Last season, my daughter’s dance team kicked off competition day with a routine called “But First…Coffee.”

Morning slot. Starbucks logos. Catchy choreography.

The result? A wave of people left, came back with cups in hand, and by the next round the audience looked like a Starbucks commercial.

That wasn’t just a dance. It was associative marketing and behavioral priming in action.

 • Brand Cue: Show the logo, say the name → brains file it as the “obvious option.”
 • Contextual Priming: Morning competition plus coffee? Perfect pairing.
 • Social Proof: A few go get it, the herd follows.

Ever done an ice bath??

I have. Back when I trained for a marathon 12 years ago.

And let me tell you, it is not fun. It’s downright painful.
Yes, there’s a purpose (reduce inflammation, help recovery)… but would I do it for everyday use? Hard pass.

Which brings me to lead generation.

👉 Cold leads are the business version of an ice bath.
They serve a purpose… but they’re shocking, uncomfortable, and often leave you wondering why you put yourself through it.

Unless, here’s the twist, those cold leads are already pre-warmed.

Wait, pre-warmed cold leads? Sounds like an oxymoron, right?

Not when you use intent marketing.

This is when “cold” leads start flashing signals… researching solutions, comparing vendors, downloading a guide. In other words, they’re already cracking the door open. You don’t need to slam your way in.

Leads flagged by intent don’t just feel better… they convert 2–3x faster, cut your acquisition costs, and shorten sales cycles compared to chasing ice-cold strangers.

Here’s what it looks like in practice:

1) Spot the signals → Who’s visiting your pricing page, Googling competitors, or bingeing your content.
2) Match the message → Talk directly to the pain they’ve revealed, not a generic sales pitch.
3) Offer the next step → Give them an easy “yes” (demo, audit, training) that solves their immediate problem.
4) Scale into the bigger solution → Move them naturally into your service offering without forcing it.

So instead of taking a face-plant into an Arctic ice bath every time you want new clients…
...Build systems that warm your pipeline before you even touch it.

Because the truth is: everyone’s been doing it backwards.

Nah - I've been saying, 'here's the thing' in my copy/content for years...way before I had chatgpt. That's not a good gauge at all when discovering who is using AI for content. 

But here's the thing (yup, I said it)...AI tends to mimic it's user's verbiage/tone, so even if someone is just using it for editing a post, it's still learning from the user and adding in extras. 

All in all - you waste so much time trying to see who is writing with AI and who isn't. I mean I remember not so long ago, people would criticize you for a simple typo, now...they're begging for it to prove that the content was actually written by a human. 

Either way - you can't win, so don't play the game. If the content interests you, read it, and if you feel connected to the writer, reach out to them. See if they want to do a meet and greet and get your human connection in that way, rather than trying to see if a human wrote the post that you read.

But if you want something big to shift, you can’t think like the majority. 

Majority mindset brings majority results.

Steve Jobs embodied Think Different. He wasn’t talking woo, he was showing us how to manifest innovation before we even called it that.
