I once met a man who could sell sand to a desert.

He wasn't flashy. 

No fancy suit or slick haircut. 

Just quiet confidence that drew you in.

"What's your secret?" I asked over coffee.

He smiled and said:

"Kid, selling isn't about what you're offering. It's about the gap."

I looked confused, so he continued:

"Everyone's in their own purgatory. Not quite hell, not quite heaven. My job? 

Show them the distance between where they are and could be."

He leaned in:

"I paint two pictures: their current reality and potential future. I make that gap clear, so they want to cross it. And I'm the bridge."

"But how?" I asked.

"Questions. The right questions make people see their limitations. Once they see the gap, they're halfway to making the leap."

I realized I'd witnessed a master class in selling.

It wasn't about manipulation. 

It was about illumination. 

Showing people a path they didn't know existed.

You see, selling is about separation. 

Distancing prospects from where they are to where they could be.

In their world, hell and heaven interweave. They can't see the distance between reality and desires.

To sell, help them see reality. 

Shift their perspective until they see a gap between who they are and could be.

Achieve this through:

- Storytelling
- Imagery
- Future-pacing
- Emotional appeals

Use language that reveals contrast between status quo and desired state.

Paint a picture of what could be. Specific, tantalizing details.

Questions are crucial. They create the itch to scratch.

"What's stopping you from...?"
"How long have you been trying to...?"
Once you create separation, your audience enters an "agitated state".

Then present your solution as the bridge.

The bigger the gap, the easier the sale.

This isn't manipulation. It's helping your audience see a new reality.

You're selling a journey from one reality to another.

Link your product to your prospect's ideal future.

The most seductive messaging evokes curiosity and desire, built on the art of selling.

Master this and you'll never create boring pitches again.

How to write power content that sells

If you want to learn how to ride a bicycle, don't look for:

→ The person with the largest bicycle-riding social media following.
→ The person with the most bicycle riding degrees.
→ A person who takes photos of themselves riding a fancy bicycle

Look for the person you see riding the damn bicycle...and doing it well.
