The souk doesn’t use funnels. Or CRMs. Or swipe files.

I've closed the business.

When I started Trevisan, I also opened a shop to sell my digital copy products. 

After a year, Trevisan was thriving but nothing was selling on Etsy. Tried to close the account a few times; gave up on the laborious process 🤣

Until this month. 
The charge was £4.90. Enough to make me finally act!

That platform? 
Not where my people are.

So I stopped.

I used to be everywhere - Facebook, Instagram, TikTok. Now?

📉 A bloated network weakens your signal.

So instead of chasing reach...

🧩 Build relevance. 
✂️ Trim what's not working.

(V) Post 16 Becoming Visible to the Right People

If clients can’t find you, you don’t exist. Literally!

LinkedIn works like Google. 
No keywords = invisibility.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝘅:
🙍🏻Headline → include job title, field, and buyer language.

📖About → short, clear story with keyword-rich phrases.

📑Experience → avoid fancy internal job titles. Use common ones.

Test it: Search your dream role + your city. Do you appear in the first 3 pages?

And no inbound leads? That stings when you’ve worked so hard to build a brilliant business or career.

🔍 How LinkedIn Keyword Search 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 Works
LinkedIn’s search function is driven by a 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗺 which analyses 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵 and 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, not just exact keyword matches.

Here’s what that means in practice:
1. 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀
LinkedIn gives different 𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 to where your keywords appear. From highest to lowest ranking influence:
1️⃣ Headline 2️⃣ Job titles (under Experience) 3️⃣ About section 4️⃣ Skills section 5️⃣ Recommendations and Activity

So if your main keyword (“Employment Lawyer”, “Wealth Manager”, “HR Director”) isn’t in your headline or job title, you’re losing visibility.

2. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 “𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰”
When recruiters or clients search, they often use Boolean operators to filter. 

For example:
• ("𝙲𝚘𝚛𝚙𝚘𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝙻𝚊𝚠𝚢𝚎𝚛" 𝙾𝚁 "𝙼&𝙰 𝚂𝚙𝚎𝚌𝚒𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚜𝚝") 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝙻𝚘𝚗
  
If your profile doesn’t include those variations, you may never appear, even if you 𝘢𝘳𝘦 a perfect match.

3. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗺 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
LinkedIn doesn’t just stop at text. It looks at 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘴 - who views, clicks, or messages you after a search result. If people regularly click your profile after searching “Compliance Specialist London”, LinkedIn assumes your profile is a strong match and ranks you higher next time.
It’s a feedback loop of relevance.

4. 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘁
You don’t need to “stuff” your profile. . Use each core keyword 𝟮–𝟯 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 across your headline, About, and Experience, then naturally in context.

5. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 = 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿
Every skill you add acts as a keyword trigger for search. If your top 3 skills match your job title and About section, LinkedIn considers your profile “keyword aligned"

Now, test it yourself and search for yourself in 2 weeks.

When was the last time you typed your own job title into LinkedIn’s search bar and actually found 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧?

Go on, do it now and let me know if you show up in the list!

P.S. ✅ 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗽: Go to your profile → Click “𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼” → “𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗷𝗼𝗯” → “𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀” → and look at LinkedIn’s auto-suggestions.  Those suggestions are pulled 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 from real search data.  Use them as your target keyword list.

(C) Post 15 Keywords Make or Break Your LinkedIn Visibilit

If I hear ‘consistency is key’ one more time…
Yes, we all know it’s important.

But most people saying it haven’t actually tested it.
I have.

1,217 posts in the last year.

And here’s what I’ve learnt:

✅ Consistency keeps you top of mind
✅ It builds a content archive people love to binge
✅ It trains the algorithm to recognise you as active and relevant

Even posting 2–3 times a week can shift your visibility and inbound messages dramatically.

Consistency isn’t about posting daily - it’s about showing up reliably, aligning your content with your professional identity, and maintaining a coherent narrative that reinforces the AI’s understanding of who you are and what you stand for.

NB. Over-posting or clustering posts (e.g., five in an hour) triggers frequency caps, reducing visibility for subsequent posts.

Truth is, consistency beats intensity — but only if it’s consistency you can sustain.

(I often suggest in my LinkedIn training sessions: block an hour fortnightly to batch 3–4 posts and save them in LinkedIn’s draft feature. It’s the simplest way to stay visible without feeling chained to your feed.)

How often do you post — and has your rhythm helped you stay front of mind?

The Power of Consistency

AI won’t win you clients.
But it might lose you credibility.

I’ve read AI-generated posts on LinkedIn that look impressive at first glance.
But the moment you dig in - it’s clear: it’s guff in a blazer!

Here's the truth:
AI only accelerates what already works.

The top performers I work with use AI to:
🔂 Automate low-risk admin
🔂 Analyse buyer language
🔂 Map smoother onboarding and content journeys

The rest?
They use it to pump out recycled content

One practical trick to implement it valuably: use AI to generate lists of headline variations, then test which ones get the strongest dwell time before posting on LinkedIn.

𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: 
“Act as a LinkedIn content strategist. I am writing a LinkedIn article on [insert your topic or key idea here]. Generate 10 headline variations that are:
Concise and engaging
Optimised for professional audiences
Designed to boost dwell time and encourage readers to stop scrolling
Make sure each headline clearly signals the value or insight of the post in plain language.”

AI is an amplifier.
It makes a great strategy stronger.
It makes a weak strategy louder… and more obvious.

If you're in a regulated space, trust is your asset.
 
Use AI to support it, not sabotage it.

Are you using AI to add clarity and insight?
Or just to do more… faster?

The difference is everything.

Why it happens (and how to fix it):

LinkedIn doesn’t reward how many people you could reach.
It rewards how many actually do engage.

📉 In fact, profiles with 500–999 connections get 2.3x more engagement than those with 10,000+.
Here’s why:

Engagement density > network size.

If 40 people like your post out of 500 connections, LinkedIn sees it as HIGH quality.

But if 40 people like your post out of 10,000… it gets buried.

Translation:
A tight, engaged audience beats a bloated, silent one.

So ask yourself:
Are you building connections…
Or just collecting them?

Would you rather have 1,000 people who comment, share, and support—
Or 10,000 who scroll right past you?

If your feed feels quiet, it might be time to trim dead weight.

Build smaller.
Build smarter.
Build for depth, not vanity.

How many of your connections are actually active?

External links don’t have to tank your reach.
Yes - one link in a post can drop reach by up to 68%.

LinkedIn sees it as “sending people away.”
Not great.
.
But three or more?
Completely different story now.

That gets classified as a resource post.
Educational. Helpful. Boosted.

So instead of dropping a lone link, bundle your recommendations.

Curate them like a mini reading list. Give context. Add value.

𝗔 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁:

Talking about too many things at once.

Do this and people won’t know what you 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 do or who you help.

Instead, try this:

1️⃣ Pick 2–3 core themes → mine are 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆, 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 & 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 

2️⃣ Create around those themes → build lists of mini topics, stories, and angles that feed each one 

3️⃣ Stick to it → repeat, refine, and go deeper every time

It 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 feel repetitive. You might even get bored 😕

But here’s the thing - your audience won’t. 

They’re hearing it for the first time.

That’s how you build recognition, trust, and authority over time.

Say 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀, not 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆.
