After a 25+ year entrepreneurial career in recruiting/staffing, I walked away because recruiting is broken. The industry deploys the simple process of buying stuff to the immensely complex process of connecting with human beings. The result is an inefficient process that makes everyone miserable, treats people like products, and adds to harmful narratives. A transformative experience showed me the power of human connections and collaborative community. I realized hierarchical management limits an organization’s collective insight by putting leadership in an impossible position of thinking they are responsible for all ideas, destroying employee creativity/initiative, and limiting the ability to understand complexity. I founded True Bearing to pioneer new models leveraging culture, storytelling and human-centered principles to transform recruiting practices and how companies connect with talent. Now, as a professional speaker, storyteller and workshop facilitator, I combine my passion for purpose and narrative to drive change, foster collaboration, and reveal our shared humanity. I provide audiences with imaginative, empathetic takeaways by reframing topics through the lens of shared stories. I’m here to help guide organizations through this unprecedented reinvention by tapping into the human superpowers of imagination, empathy and community.
