I could kick myself. I practiced it in the early 2000s, and it is the foundation of my success. I veered away from it. Daily stress, bickering, and negative news took over my consciousness. I call them (and me) out for being the culprit of declining health, negativity surrounding you, the pattern of flying off the handle on little stuff, becoming distant to things without a reason… I am speaking of the power of the subconscious mind. This brought me on the cover of a magazine. It brought me to the front of audiences, national and internationally, who wanted to hear what I had to share. It was the spark plug of writing and releasing my first book in 2014. Short… I believe that the subconscious mind is responsible 90% of the time how things will be for you in the future. I am glad that I “rediscovered” the power of it and let me tell you. I am back. In the last two to three days, the “wishful” has become the status quo. Things are happening. For the good. Insane!

"Des, your yellow is showing..." This has become the inside joke between Desiree and her partner since attending my DISC workshop. "You are stupid." (I know a bit drastic, but it serves as a wake-up call). New MIT research on AI and brain function has important implications for all of us. As AI tools become essential in our daily work, this study from MIT's Media Lab raises critical questions about how we're using them. The key findings: Brain scans showed 47% less cognitive engagement when people used ChatGPT for creative tasks. Participants worked 60% faster but used 32% less mental effort. Most concerning: 80% couldn't remember key details from their own AI-assisted work. When participants stopped using AI, their brains didn't immediately recover. They still showed reduced activity compared to people who never used AI. The most interesting finding: The group that performed best started without AI, then strategically added it later. They maintained strong cognitive engagement while gaining productivity benefits. This isn't about AI being bad. It's about intentional usage patterns that preserve our critical thinking skills. The research suggests we should ask ourselves: Are we using AI as a thinking partner or replacement? Are we still doing the cognitive heavy lifting ourselves? How can we gain efficiency without losing mental sharpness? Smart professionals will figure out how to harness AI's power while keeping their minds engaged and sharp. Don't call yourself a CEO and a visionary Leader when you struggle to fulfill these four basic rules. 1. Clarity in Purpose. A CEO must be aware of his organzation/s mission inside and out.  Because of this clarity, it will become a more targeted approach to drive every decision, no matter how difficult it may seem. This is the pedigree that enables building a culture, which will then serve as a guide and beacon for all teams involved. 2. Focus on Goals. Yea... I know... you know - nothing new here, BUT still seeing it daily when I coach and onboard new clients, that's the first time they heard about it. The goals you set need to be clear. Stop with "wishy-washy... "it would be nice if we could...'" Decisiveness is the necessity of getting these goals set as they are the "vitality vitamins" for your team's direction, and when accomplished, another token for your "mission accomplished" achievement. 3. Understanding Customer Needs. I am not saying you, as a CEO, need to take daily phone calls from each and every customer, but you need to put a process in place which will allow you to get a gist of what customers truly value. When you gain this insight and idea, the next step (based on the finding) is to shape products and services. It will create a foundation for building deeper loyalty in the consumer-vendor relations and will be an accelerant of driving growth. 4. Metrics for Accountability. Inspect what to expect, or, as Ronald Reagan said, "Trust but Verify." These are the main ingredients for early discovery of highlights in your offerings, or even better, pointing out areas for improvement. A crucial aspect for the health of your organization, which, when deployed regularly, is a driving force for agility and responsiveness, and will create a competitive advantage. Especially the last point made is a differentiator. My clients, who followed No. 4 meticulously, always told me the same: "This made all the difference in our success." Now it is up to you to be brutally honest with yourself and the people you lead. Remember, the future belongs to those who adapt and innovate. Great leadership is about fostering a culture of strategic thinking and constant adaptation. Grow a team that you are willing to enable to evolve, empower, and let contribute to the vision. Success comes from clarity, focus, and understanding - not just yourself, but also the people "in your boat." Lead with purpose and watch your organization thrive. And when you still wonder, "how can I find the right people for the 'right' spot/task - bring me in to identify those members, as I have done hundreds of times with other successful organizations like I coached here locally and worldwide. From the streets of Bolton to the shelves of my first sporting goods store. Reebok has always meant more to me than just a logo. Joe Foster, co-founder of Reebok, didn’t just build a shoe company. He built a legacy. A legacy I’ve admired since the 90s, when Reebok became my first and leading supplier for my sporting goods store back in Germany. Joe and I later crossed paths in 2024, when I contributed as a co-author in his book “How to Survive and Thrive, Edt. II” We also share a few key passions: Liverpool FC, Sir Winston Churchill, and the grit it takes to lead something meaningful. Sometimes it’s good to do something unplanned. Like driving home and making an ad hoc stop for a burger and beer. Alone, (the kids and wife are at painting class) without immediate distractions like “how was your day” and such - just me-time. No noise (well, kind of, even though patrons on other table think being loud, scream, shout and being obnoxious is kind of the new cool) - but again - distractions are there to filter them out. Now, back to the table, the view, and being grateful that I have the life at this point, allowing me to be spontaneous. Next? Possible thinking about, how can I scale my business better and faster.
