I’ve seen jobseekers apply to 100+ roles. In one day. With the same resume. Without personalizing a thing. And then wonder… “Why is no one replying?” Here’s the truth: If you’re not tailoring your approach, you’re not actually applying. You’re just sending. Here’s what the best jobseekers do differently: ➟ They research the company ➟ They connect with someone internally ➟ They personalize every message they send ➟ They tailor their resume to the job description What does that look like in action? ✅ 10 quality applications ✅ 10 personalized messages ✅ 10 conversations with real humans ✅ 10 companies where you actually want to work Guess what that leads to? ➟ Faster callbacks ➟ More interviews ➟ Better offers ➟ Less burnout I’ve helped jobseekers go from ghosted to hired by doing less with more intention. Because this isn't about playing the numbers game. It’s about playing the strategy game. 100 generic applications won’t beat 10 targeted, thoughtful ones. You don’t need to be everywhere. You need to be in the right places. The right way. So slow down. Get strategic. And watch better results show up faster. Agree with this? ♻️ Repost to help someone else. Most leaders wait for perfect conditions. Great ones create them. This line from HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum isn’t just policy. It’s a masterclass in vision-led leadership: Openness → Trust in long-term thinking Bridges → Build allies, not walls Freedom → Create space for people to thrive You don’t hit AED 5.23 trillion in trade by chance. You get there with clarity and conviction. If you're leading a team, ask yourself: → Are you making it easier for your people to move, grow, and build? → Or are your systems quietly slowing them down? This is modern leadership: Clear direction. Open mindset. Global relevance. Not control. Empowerment. ♻️ Repost if you believe openness scales faster than control. Follow Ahmed AlDhraif for more leadership breakdowns.
Why do weekends feel so short? Ever notice how Monday feels like a fresh start, but by Friday, you’re running on fumes? The problem isn’t just work. It’s never actually disconnecting. If your weekends look like this: ⤷ Checking emails "just in case" ⤷ Thinking about Monday’s to-do list ⤷ Feeling guilty for resting You’re not recharging, you’re just postponing burnout. Try this instead: → Set a hard stop. Close your laptop. Log out. Your work will be there Monday. → Protect your time. Weekends aren’t "extra hours" for unfinished work. They’re for you. → Do something pointless (but fun). Not everything has to be "productive." Read. Walk. Laugh. → Say NO to Sunday Scaries. Make Sunday about rest, not dread. Plan something you enjoy. → Stop earning rest. You don’t need to "Deserve" a break. You’re human. That’s enough. Rest isn’t a luxury. It’s fuel. Your best work doesn’t come from exhaustion, it comes from balance. So this weekend, log off fully. Your mind (and your Monday) will thank you. Ahmed here, signing off. PS: What’s one weekend habit are you going to try this weekend?
Your LinkedIn profile gets just 7 seconds to impress a recruiter. Crazy, right? But it’s true. In those first few seconds, they don’t check your resume. Not your degree. Not your follower count either. Here’s what really happens: They skim. One scroll. That’s all it takes to decide, keep reading or move on. And what do they actually look at? There are 3 parts of your profile that matter most. If you get these wrong? You lose their attention before the real conversation starts. But here’s the good news: These 3 things are easy to fix. If you know what to change. I break it all down in this week’s newsletter (yes with examples!) And if landing interviews on LinkedIn is your goal this month… Read the full newsletter below 👇🏻
Most job seekers want people to notice them on LinkedIn. But after a few posts with no likes or comments, they think: "Is anyone even seeing this?" Then they stop posting. Or they keep posting but nothing changes. But getting seen on LinkedIn is not luck. It’s about having a smart plan. If you know: → What to post → When to post → How to talk to others. You will get noticed. In my latest newsletter, I share a full guide to help you: ⤷ Turn boring posts into posts people love ⤷ Build a LinkedIn habit that gets recruiters to notice you ⤷ Keep showing up even when you feel tired Want more people to see your posts? Most resumes don’t get rejected. They get ignored. And the worst part: You rarely know why. Even highly skilled professionals and C-suite leaders make small mistakes that quietly push recruiters away. Here’s the truth: It’s not just about what you say on your resume… It’s about how you say it, and what you're not saying. In my latest newsletter, I’m breaking down the resume red flags that: ⤷ Make recruiters skip your profile in seconds ⤷ Hurt your chances (even if you're a top performer) ⤷ Can be fixed with simple tweaks and better framing Want to know if your resume’s holding you back? You can’t build a high-performance team on low energy. Energy isn’t just nice to have. It’s the fuel of every high-performing team. Want a strong team? Protect their energy first. Here’s why energy matters more than ever: 1. Energy builds trust. 2. Energy drives clarity. 3. Energy boosts morale. 4. Energy fuels creativity. 5. Energy keeps momentum alive. 6. Energy turns effort into excellence. 7. Energy creates better collaboration. 8. Energy makes problem-solving easier. Without energy, even top talent underperforms. With it, average teams do extraordinary things. 5 Ways to Raise Team Energy. Starting Today: 1/ Respect Rest: Stop glorifying burnout. Encourage real time off. Don’t make exhaustion the standard. 2/ Simplify Priorities: Overloaded = overwhelmed. Cut the noise. Let your team focus on what actually moves the needle. 3/ Celebrate Often: Small wins create big waves. Recognize effort, not just outcomes. A little “thank you” goes a long way. 4/ Lead With Empathy: Check in without checking out. Know what’s draining your team then fix it. Human-first leadership = sustainable performance. 5/ Model the Energy You Expect: If you’re always stressed and reactive, your team mirrors it. Your energy is contagious. Make it worth catching. Great teams don’t run on pressure. They run on energy, trust, and purpose. High performance starts with high energy. So protect it like it's your most valuable asset. P.S. Tired team ≠ bad team. It just needs better leadership. ♻️ Repost to energize your network. And follow Ahmed AlDhraif for leadership & HR insights.
What do hiring managers really want to hear? It’s not always what you think. They may not say it directly… But there are things they’re listening for. It’s not just about your resume. It’s about your mindset, your approach, and your intent. Here’s what great hiring managers truly value: ➟ Curiosity ➟ Accountability ➟ Self-awareness ➟ Problem-solving And when you say things like this… They notice: “I don’t know the answer yet, but I’d love to learn.” “I made a mistake there and here’s how I fixed it.” “I saw something broken, so I built a better system.” “I read up on your company’s recent launch... Here’s what I liked.” “I’m not just looking for a job. I’m looking to contribute.” These aren't just phrases. They’re green flags. They tell hiring managers: → You’ll take ownership. → You care about growth. → You want to add to the team, not just join it. Most candidates focus on sounding perfect. But what hiring managers want is real. Real thinkers. Real doers. Real people. So next time you’re in an interview? Don’t focus on saying what you think they want to hear. Focus on showing them who you really are. That’s what sets you apart. ♻️ Find this helpful? Most job seekers think their resume is the first thing recruiters notice. (Psst! They’ve probably seen your comments first) ⤷ Before they even open your application, they’ve already formed an impression. ⤷ Your name has either popped up in the right places, or it hasn’t. ⤷ And if your comments sound average, they’ll assume your work is too. The good news? A smart comment can put you on their radar before you apply. Want to know how to do it right? Click below to read my latest newsletter:
8 mindset shifts for a weekend that actually recharges you Visuals by Jun Han Chin (Deserves your follow 👇) Three lessons I learned the hard way: → Growth takes time, rushing it ruins it. → Finding your path is a balance, not a straight line. → Success is never as neat as it looks from the outside. Here are 8 reminders we all need before the weekend starts: 1. Passion alone isn’t enough. → Do what you love, but make sure it pays. → The sweet spot: Skill, passion, and value combined. 2. Growth takes time. → Push forward daily, but trust the long game. → Patience builds what rushing can’t. 3. Setbacks are launchpads. → Every “down” moment is just the setup for your next takeoff. → Progress isn’t lost, just paused. 4. Mistakes teach more than books. → Experience teaches what theory never will. → Fail, learn, adapt, repeat. 5. Fear blocks more than failure. → If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you. → Growth lives outside your comfort zone. 6. Plans Will Change → Life isn’t a checklist, it’s a rollercoaster ride. → Adapt fast, and you’ll never fall behind. 7. Stay curious, always. → The moment you stop questioning, you stop growing. → The best ideas live outside what you know. 8. Success is never neat. → If it’s smooth, you’re not pushing hard enough. → Stop chasing perfection. Chase progress. #7 is my personal favorite. Which one hits home for you? - ♻️ Repost to remind someone they’re exactly where they need to be. Follow me (Ahmed AlDhraif) for more mindset shifts like this.
Discipline > Motivation. Here’s how you know you're leading by example: It’s not: Saying one thing, doing another Showing up only when inspired Letting emotion lead execution Starting strong but burning out Expecting others to follow you Setting goals but not systems Without walking the path first Falling off at the first setback Talking big, delivering small Quitting when it gets boring Waiting for the “right mood” Changing plans on a whim Breaking your own rules Always needing a push Blaming time or energy Being inconsistent It is: Clarity Daily effort Consistency Commitment Accountability Quiet discipline Being dependable Leading with action Repeating what works Mastering your routines Honoring your own standards Letting systems drive success Doing hard things on hard days Choosing progress over comfort Showing up especially when no one’s watching Want to lead by example? Here are 5 ways to practice discipline daily: 1. Set Clear Non-Negotiables Decide what matters then do it every day. 2. Keep Promises to Yourself Your team watches what you tolerate in you first. 3. Master Boring Reps Growth hides in the repetition most people avoid. 4. Show Up, Rain or Shine Discipline thrives in discomfort. Lead there. 5. Let Actions Speak Loudest Words inspire. But your habits lead. Motivation starts the fire. Discipline keeps it burning. ➟ It builds trust. ➟ It earns respect. ➟ It separates real leaders from loud ones. Discipline isn’t sexy. But it’s unstoppable. P.S. Resonate with this? Repost to lead by example ♻️ And follow Ahmed AlDhraif for leadership, HR & job search insights.
I’m not a perfect person. I’ve made quite a few mistakes in my life. Checked emails at dinner. Worked through weekends. Worked one more time before hitting bed. I let the work take over. Too harsh on myself Ignored the health signals Forgot what it feels like to live. But I’ve learned something: → Always being “on” isn’t a blessing for business, but a curse. So I made a promise to myself. To rest without guilt. To disconnect without explaining. To be present without feeling like I should be somewhere else. Each year, I choose a word to guide me: 2021 - Hustle 2022 - Build 2023 - Adjust 2024 - Unplug 2025 - Live Because life isn’t meant to be just work. It’s meant to be lived. If you’re ready to take back your time, comment LIFE.
Leadership isn’t a title. It’s a tone you set. You don’t need a fancy job title to lead. You just need to show up with intention. True leadership is when you: → Take responsibility without being asked → Make people feel seen and heard → Lead with kindness, not ego It’s how you treat people on the hard days. And how you show up when no one’s watching. You don’t have to be in charge to make an impact. You just have to care enough to lead by example. Leadership isn't: 🚫 Barking orders 🚫 Needing credit for everything 🚫 Using fear to motivate Instead, it looks like: ✅ Listening with empathy ✅ Taking ownership for your mistakes ✅ Empowering others to shine People won’t always remember what you said. But they’ll always remember how you made them feel. So set the tone: With calm. With clarity. With courage. Because real leaders don’t lead from titles. They lead from values. Repost if you believe leadership starts with how you show up. ♻️ And follow Ahmed AlDhraif for more insights like this.
Not all managers are leaders. And not all leaders protect. Here’s the difference between bad and great leadership: 1. BAD: Hides behind hierarchy GOOD: Steps up as a shield 2. BAD: Passes pressure down GOOD: Absorbs it, filters it, protects 3. BAD: Demands results GOOD: Designs environments where results thrive 4. BAD: Blames when things go wrong GOOD: Fixes fast, learns faster 5. BAD: Keeps teams in the dark GOOD: Communicates with radical clarity Managers manage tasks. Real leaders manage trust. Your team won’t always say it, But they remember who stood up for them. Be the umbrella in the storm. That’s leadership. ♻️ Repost to remind your network what leadership really means. Follow Ahmed AlDhraif for more HR + leadership wisdom.
You can’t lead others if you can’t lead yourself. → Discipline > motivation → Boundaries > burnout → Vision > validation Your team doesn’t just follow your words. They follow your energy. Your habits. Your example. So ask yourself today: Do you respect your own calendar? Do you follow through on what you say? Do you create space to grow before you guide? The way you show up for you is the foundation of how you’ll show up for them. Strong teams start with strong self-leadership. Type “YES” if you’re working on becoming that kind of leader. ♻️ Repost to inspire others to lead from within. Follow Ahmed AlDhraif for more leadership content.
A toxic hire doesn’t just impact your team. It drains time, morale, and long-term performance. Here’s what a toxic hire really costs: 1. Destroys Team Morale One toxic attitude spreads fast, creating mistrust, frustration, and low energy across the entire team. 2. Increases Employee Turnover Top talent doesn’t stick around toxic people. You risk losing your best performers over one bad fit. 3. Wastes Time and Resources From constant conflict resolution to underperformance reviews, toxic hires eat up valuable hours from your leaders. 4. Kills Productivity Instead of focusing on goals, the team ends up managing damage control... slowing down growth and collaboration. 5. Costs You More in the Long Run Replacing one toxic hire can cost up to 2x their salary, not counting the hidden cost of broken culture. 6. Harms Mental Health and Engagement Toxic behavior leads to burnout, anxiety, and disengagement especially in high-stress environments. 7. Impacts Customer Experience When your team is drained, your clients and customers feel it too. Toxicity bleeds through the brand experience. 8. Silences Innovation When people walk on eggshells, they stop speaking up. Creativity and problem-solving drop dramatically. A delayed hire might slow you down for a moment. A toxic one can set you back for years. So if you’re hiring: Hire slow and with intention. And if you're an HR leader: Protect your culture like your growth depends on it. Because it does. ♻️ Repost to protect someone else's team. And follow Ahmed AlDhraif for more HR insights like this.
I could’ve saved $50,000 by hiring fast and cheap, but… I didn’t! Because I believe: - Employee experience fuels growth - Culture isn’t words. It’s daily actions - Great teams don’t happen by accident - Hiring shapes the future, not just fills roles - People-first leadership drives performance It’s been almost 8 years since I changed how I do HR. So, you might be asking now, ↳ “Was it worth it?” To be honest, without sugarcoating it: Yes. It absolutely was. But remember… This is just the beginning of the journey. There’s still a long way to go… If you’re wondering about where things stand, I’d say... I’ve never been in a stronger position. I’m seeing: - The highest productivity and satisfaction - The highest employee retention - The highest team engagement - The lowest hiring costs Ultimately… the strongest culture I’ve helped build To every HR leader reading this: - Don’t settle for outdated hiring - Don’t treat culture like an afterthought - Don’t underestimate people-first leadership Oh, and a quick note: If you know an HR leader who gets it, Tag them and show some appreciation 💙 PS: Do you believe HR can drive business growth beyond just hiring?
This is the part most won’t say out loud. The dream some people in tech quietly chase: A future where humans don’t exist in the workforce. Where "AI employees" don’t take breaks, don’t ask questions, and don’t feel a thing. That’s not the future I’m betting on. Because what they call disruption is really DISPLACEMENT. Let’s be clear: AI doesn’t think. It imitates. It guesses. And the moment it’s asked to understand? It folds. Still, some are cheering for a world where replacing humans is the goal, not to enhance our work, but to ERASE the people doing it. That’s not innovation. It’s anti-human. And maybe that’s why I keep saying “Making hiring human again.” Not as a tagline. But as a reminder. That behind every job, behind every career, is a PERSON. The world doesn't need fewer humans. It needs more empathy in how we build, lead, and hire. We all deserve a better future.
Your leadership isn’t just what you do. It’s what you say every single day. Top HR leaders know one thing: Your words can build trust or break it. The right words: → Build safety → Inspire teams → Drive ownership But the wrong ones: They create silence. Resentment. Resistance. Let’s change that. Here are 12 simple leadership swaps to help you lead with empathy and impact: 1. When addressing conflict: ❌ We need to talk. ✅ Let’s sit down and figure this out together. 2. When recognizing good work: ❌ Nice job. ✅ Your effort made a big difference, thank you. 3. When delivering tough feedback: ❌ This isn’t good enough. ✅ Here’s where we can improve, and how we’ll fix it. 4. When setting expectations: ❌ I expect results. ✅ Here’s what success looks like for this task... 5. When responding to frustration: ❌ Calm down. ✅ I understand this is frustrating, let’s talk about it. 6. When handling a mistake: ❌ Why did you do that? ✅ Let’s figure out what went wrong and fix it together. 7. When encouraging ownership: ❌ Just do your best. ✅ I believe in you, you’ve got this. 8. When pushing for deadlines: ❌ This needs to be done ASAP. ✅ Let’s align on timelines to ensure success. 9. When supporting mental well-being: ❌ Take a break if you need one. ✅ Your well-being matters, let’s adjust your workload. 10. When promoting growth: ❌ You’re not ready for that role. ✅ Here’s what you can focus on to prepare for that role. 11. When asking for updates: ❌ Where are we with this? ✅ How’s progress going, anything I can support you with? 12. When encouraging teamwork: ❌ Sort it out yourselves. ✅ How can we collaborate to get this done? Your words don’t just shape conversations... They shape your culture. Because strong HR leaders don’t just manage people, They empower them. Which rephrase is your favourite? Let me know 👇 ♻️ Repost to help HR leaders build stronger teams. And follow Ahmed AlDhraif for more.
Today, can I be honest with you? I used to believe I had to earn my weekends. Like... if I wasn’t exhausted by Friday, I hadn’t done enough. And then I came across this quote by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum: “In the race of excellence, there’s no finish line.” It hit me hard. Because I realized, I was running a race that never really ends. Always thinking one more email, one more task, one more idea… But you know what I’ve learned? Resting doesn’t mean you’re falling behind. It means you’re wise enough to know your energy is your real edge. Excellence isn’t about being always on. It’s about knowing when to pause. So if you’re feeling like you haven’t “done enough” this week… Maybe you actually have. Maybe you just need to disconnect without guilt. Because burnout isn’t a badge. And being busy isn’t the same as being excellent. If you’re in this for the long run, give yourself permission to breathe. Not because you’ve “earned” it. But because you’re human. And that’s more than enough. Take your pause. Believe me. You’ll come back stronger.
