Peter Drucker once said "The purpose of business is to create and keep a customer." That simple statement is a true today as when he first made it. He then he goes onto say "The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits him and sells itself.“ (The Essential Drucker). So many companies focus on the features of their products and they don't spend very much time really getting to know their customers needs and challenges. Finally he says “The aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous.” (The Essential Drucker). That is a powerful statement and obviously Drucker thinks that marketing comes before selling. That will certainly most sales people uncomfortable. The world has changed over the last few years where marketing is more important and sales has become less important. Inbound marketing is a business methodology that attracts customers by creating valuable content and experiences tailored to them. While outbound marketing interrupts your audience with content they don't always want, inbound marketing forms connections they are looking for and solves problems they already have. Marketing Automation products, like Hubspot, are becoming so comprehensive you almost need a 'master's degree' to manage the software. Good thing that I have one! I have eleven Hubspot Certifications. That coupled with my over twenty years of IT sales experience can help just about any company generate more revenue.
