As someone fascinated by the history of innovation, I was struck by the fascinating origins of something we all use every day - ๐๐ผ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ. Did you know that the humble roll of toilet paper has a history as rich and layered as its two-ply sheets? Letโs take a quick dive into the evolution of this everyday essential. The earliest recorded use of toilet paper dates back to 6th-century China, where scholar ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ญ๐ต๐ถ๐๐๐ถ famously warned against using paper with philosophical quotes for, well, ๐๐ป๐ฝ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ผ๐๐ผ๐ฝ๐ต๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฝ๐๐ฟ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐. Yan Zhitui once said, โPaper on which there are... the names of sages, I dare not use for toilet purposes.โ Wise words, Yan. Wise words. By the 14th century, the Chinese were producing over 700,000 sheets of aromatic toilet paper annually for the Imperial court - talk about luxury! Meanwhile, the rest of the world was still figuring things out. ๐๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ used rosewater and wool, ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป๐ relied on corncobs and old almanacs, and ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ต ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ wiped with lace and hemp. (Yes, you read that right - lace.) Even sailors in the 17th and 18th centuries resorted to the ends of old anchor cables. ๐ข Fast forward to 1857, when ๐ก๐ฒ๐ ๐ฌ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ต ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ introduced the first commercially packaged, pre-moistened toilet paper. But it wasnโt until 1890 that the ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ป๐ rolled out the first toilet paper on a roll. And in 1935, ๐ก๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป ๐ง๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ป๐ made a splash by advertising โsplinter-freeโ paper - because apparently, splinters were a real concern. By 1942, the world was introduced to softer, two-ply toilet paper, and the rest is history. So, the next time you reach for that roll, take a moment to appreciate the centuries of innovation (and occasional splinters) that brought us this modern marvel. ๐งปโจ #History #Innovation #ToiletPaper #Hygiene #FunFacts #

In the early 1800s, ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ด๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ด๐ผ๐ฟ, a Scottish soldier and adventurer, returned to London with an incredible tale. He claimed to be the Cazique (prince) of ๐ฃ๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐, a lush, resource-rich paradise on the coast of Central America. He described it as a land of ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฑ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐๐ป๐ถ๐๐: fertile soil, gold mines, and a capital city already under construction. Investors and settlers alike were captivated. ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ด๐ผ๐ฟ was a master storyteller. He published pamphlets, forged maps, and even hosted Poyais-themed balls. He sold land grants, government bonds, and shares in this fictional utopia. By the time he was done, he had ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐พ๐๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ in todayโs money. Hundreds of settlers boarded ships to start new lives in Poyais. But when they arrived, they found nothing but a mosquito-infested swamp. There was no city, no gold, no fertile land - just disease and despair. Over 80% of the settlers died. And hereโs the kicker: he tried the same scam again in France. This story is a stark reminder of the dangers of MacGregor was a brilliant marketer, but his โvisionโ was built on lies. Itโs a cautionary tale for both founders and investors: 1๏ธโฃ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ณ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐: A persuasive pitch is essential, but it must be rooted in reality. Overpromising might get you funding, but it will destroy trust - and lives - when the truth comes out. Due diligence is non-negotiable. Flashy presentations and grand promises can blind even some of the sharpest minds. At Broad Capital Advisory (๐๐๐), we help founders and investors avoid these pitfalls. We work with businesses to And we help investors
