This week, I dived deep into past data and realized I’ve helped clients and colleagues drive nearly $500,000 in revenue since I started consulting in 2021. I’ve also made over 6 figures as a solopreneur since I quit my corporate job with no plan in 2019 -- probably a total of somewhere around $200,000. This number came through lots of trial and error across an assortment of ventures including music, writing, e-commerce, local services, and marketing / revenue consulting. I was raised by high school dropouts who brought in a combined total of $40,000 a year at their peak. As a family, we went through bankruptcy, homelessness, and food scarcity, and my parents faced lots of unpredictable periods of unemployment. My mom was a janitor, a baker, and a house cleaner -- all at the same time. Whenever my dad could find work, he was an electrician. My parents knew nothing about business or personal finance -- which wasn't their fault -- and so I've had to learn all of my money lesson the hard way, and I've stacked up the emotional scars to prove it. As I've walked my path, I've had family members insult me, and several friends walk away from me. I've had clients cut ties unexpectedly. I've had several catastrophic failures. I’ve been so close to my struggles throughout this time that I’ve been looking at myself as a huge failure, but the data shows otherwise. I made less than $12,000 in 2019. This year, after my price increases and the way I've changed how I operate and what I sell, may well be my first 6-figure year -- or, if it's not, next year absolutely will be. When most people talk about confidence and self-esteem, they'll push positive affirmations or "fake it 'til you make it" mentality -- but I think there's a much better way. Be bold. Take risks. Survive and transform. Then, when you look back, you'll realize that your life is a canvas, and all the blood, sweat, and tears are your paint. The image they form will show you who you really are. That's the kind of confidence that lasts. Because you will look at it and know, deep in your heart, that you earned it. Yeehamaste, folks. 🤠
I updated our Amazon listings for Flowering Phoenix 💛 with new photos last night and today we hit a new daily sales record (third time this month). The attached photos are the exact ones I added. This, in combination with PPC ads optimization is driving a ROAS of 4+ and a sales increase of over 300% YOY. I crafted the copy, took the photos, and designed the layouts last night. Honestly, the photos are pretty weak (I'm no photographer), and the design could be improved, but the key to the success of these images is the sales and copywriting principles I applied. I wanted to help customers FEEL what it would be like to relax with one of our products. The strategy appears to be working. If you want help with your ecommerce store, I'm happy to chat. At the beginning of the year, I started managing our Amazon storefront + ads for Flowering Phoenix 💛. The results have been incredible, and if the current trend continues, we'll likely at least DOUBLE our business in 2025. This is what we've accomplished so far: - Set 2 new all-time daily sales records - Set 1 all-time monthly sales record - Increased ROAS 180% - Increased 12 month sales 2352% YOY - Increased 30 day sales 429% YOY & 69% MOM - Increased 7 day sales 432% YOY & 64% WOW I've been able to drive these results with a few key changes: - Listing optimization with better copywriting - Strategic bundle deals to boost AOV - Cut bid caps to reign in spend - Launched an exact match campaign on highest ROAS keywords and prioritizing that with the budget - Slowly scaling budget with daily monitoring and 3-day testing periods - Focused advertising down onto only our top-performing SKUs Some stuff I'll be doing in March: - We've enrolled in Brand Registry, so we'll be using new tools and data collection to get reviews on or low velocity SKUs and a better idea of our returning customer rate - We'll be adding A+ content and all-new listing photos - We'll continue to scale budget in the high-ROAS exact match campaign and test additional campaign types In 2024, we ran FP as a side hustle and sold between $40,000 and $50,000 across Amazon, Etsy, and Shopify, but this year, we want to nurture it with more intention. I'm optimistic about breaking 6 figures by the end of 2025. The big difference-makers for me as a marketer have been: - Focusing on data to drive decisions - Narrowing focus to solving one high-leverage problem at a time instead of spreading myself thin across a wide array of opportunities - Turning the behaviors that drive wins into SOPs so that success can compound with discipline If you like this stuff, follow me.
