Don’t do something Today if it can be done Tomorrow.

The Top ‘Er Off Rule:

For recurring tasks in your life, don’t always be “topping ‘er off”. 
Instead, let the task get near empty before dedicating energy to it.

An example: our horses’ water trough.

We have two horses here on the ranch, Ace & Annie. 
They have a big, 100 gallon trough to keep them hydrated. 
It lasts them 5-7 days on average.

Again, two options for me to refill it:
1) Pour in a bucket or two every morning to top ‘er off.
2) Once every 5-7 days, fill it all the way up.

Hint: I choose option #2.
ONE investment of energy > little drains every day.

Your productivity friends may say you’re procrastinating, but now you know:
Less to do > getting more done.

Have people that won’t take No for an answer?

If you want to make progress on your goals,
If you want to build a meaningful life,
You have to say No.

What you work on is important.
Equally important, what you DON’T work on.
What you say No to.


Here’s how:

Step 1: decline respectfully.
-- Example: “Thank you, but that’s not something I’m interested in.”

Step 2: if they won't take No for an answer, decline again more forcefully.
-- Example: “Again, I appreciate it, but I’m not interested.”

Step 3: if they still won't accept your No, you're welcome to be "rude" - hang up the phone, walk away in the middle of their sentence, etc.
-- Example: “John, I appreciate the offer, but I told you: I am not interested. If this is all you want to talk about, I’m going to remove myself from this conversation.” (and walk away)


Healthy people respect healthy boundaries.
Healthy people may not like your No, but they will respect it.
Unhealthy people won't.

Know the difference.

The ONE thing to progress along your Path.
Priority is singular. You can only have ONE priority.
If you have multiple, you don’t have a priority. You’re busy.

You can’t hit what you don’t know you’re aiming at 🎯
You can’t progress without a clear direction.
You don’t win by being busy.

Do the work.
Keep it this simple.

= Clarity & peace, knowing you’re steadily making progress 
towards the life you WANT to live.

So, I created a new rule of thumb:
Reading = tactical business knowledge.
Listening = practical strategic wisdom.


My bookshelf is full of business-help books.
While my podcast list holds Jordan Peterson & the like.
