• Build financial and engineering programs in Python and R.  Heavy use of Tableau for business analytics. 

• Create reservoir databases from public data in PHDWin and ARIES, forecast all wells, create type curves for 3P scenarios, research economics, design drill schedules, and run cash flow reports that are then put into advanced Excel financial models we have designed – have evaluated over $500 million in properties. 

• Projects have included conventional and unconventional developments in the Midland, Delaware, Williston, Anadarko, Appalachian, and Columbus Basins.

• Network with hedge funds, private investors, and established E&P companies to ascertain where Faro can add value and utilize the group of technical people to whom it has access.

1414 Degrees' Thermal Energy Storage System (TESS) takes electricity from any source, the grid or renewables, and stores it as latent heat in molten silicon at 1414° Celsius.

Latent heat is energy that is held in a phase change material when it becomes molten. Silicon’s very high melting point, 1414° Celsius, means it can hold much more energy than other phase change materials. It delivers maximum energy efficiency.

The energy from the latent heat is passed through an energy recovery system and a turbine to dispatch heat and electricity when required. It transforms intermittent renewable electricity by providing reliability and stability identical to that of a coal or gas fired power station.

• Lead the technical side of all acquisitions that the platform company chose to review.  I worked directly with Aubrey McClendon on all acquisition candidates (evaluated ~$4 billion, closed on $300 million).

• Managed one of the company’s major acquisitions (Bakken/TF property).

• Worked with investment bankers and private land holders on the origination side of potential operating property, non-operating property, and acreage deals.

• Used my contacts in energy lending to help secure bank backing for money raised from private funds/individuals.  Was brought in as a consultant for the Permian group (one of the companies that spun off) for my expertise on valuing divestitures and handling RBLs.

Senior Reservoir Engineer - Acquisitions and Divestitures

Northern Oil and Gas Inc.  (AMEX: NOG)

• Prepared, assembled, and presented all information, per SEC rules, relevant to year-end and mid-year reserve reports to outside auditors (Ryder Scott), banks (RBC and others), and credit rating agencies.  Proved reserves included ~5,000+ gross wells (PDP, PDNP, and PUD) with a PV10 of $1.7 billion.  Completed a 3P report that contained an extra 12,500 locations.

• Prepared and presented all relevant engineering, geologic, and financial data for various bank, credit rating, and credit facility meetings (~$550 million in credit facility).

• Instituted both ARIES and PETRA/ArcGIS to present Northern Oil’s assets in the best possible manner at these meetings and to streamline SEC reserve reporting.

• Researched wells basin wide (Williston) and compiled the information into reports to support reserve changes and find possible workover/EOR potential projects.

• Reviewed all well AFE engineering and economics submitted to Northern to determine whether we should/should not participate (typically complete 15-25 well reviews/week on top of other duties)

• Constructed basin-wide maps on PETRA (both geologic and engineering).

• Built out all LOE tierings, expense costs, and drilling schedules with input from the finance department.  

• Added approximately $600 million in PV10 via engineering and financial work.

• Evaluated all major acquisitions Northern chose to look at (~$2 billion in acquisitions, closed on $40 million).

• Was the engineer on a team that evaluated $16 billion in acquisitions, closing on $620 million.

• Performed independent reservoir engineering analysis of acquisition candidates (primarily Permian Basin, Eagle Ford, Marcellus, and Bakken Shale), including determination of reserves by category, rate performance, and capital/operating cost estimates. Incorporate this information into economic models and evaluate properties including sensitivities and financial impacts. Recommended a course of action, including a bid amount. 

• Actively looked for acquisition opportunities, completed technical evaluations of potential opportunities, analyzed financial impacts, and recommended courses of action in support of the company’s strategic plan. Screened opportunities and suggested properties for acquisition. 

• Worked with multi-disciplinary teams to identify and evaluate unsolicited acquisition opportunities strategic to our existing assets. 

• Acted as liaison with contract personnel and consultants as needed to complete evaluations and close transactions. 

• Prepared presentations and reports for management. 

• Assisted Acquisitions Manager in coordinating evaluation efforts, particularly the engineering evaluation component.

Acquisitions / Senior Reservoir Engineer

Laurus Capital Management

• Worked with E&P/alternative energy companies, chemical manufacturers, and mining operations held in fund portfolio to enact and streamline engineering and financial processes along with ascertain credit risk. 

• Advised fund managers and deal originators on aforementioned industries during funding process using engineering and advanced economic analysis/valuation techniques.  Performed equity research and provided field-wide to company-wide reserves analysis to properly quantify collateral value.  

• Added significant value to properties via use of engineering skills and basin knowledge to properties already held in portfolio (~$30 million more on a $120 million portfolio).

• Evaluated from both a financial and engineering standpoint ~$5 billion in oil and gas deals, looking at various fields, both onshore and offshore, throughout North America, Central Russia, South America, and Northern Europe.

• Traveled to portfolio company locations, evaluated project progress, negotiated/mediated contracts and company issues, and advised CEOs and Engineering staff on field engineering projects and evaluated future opportunities.

• Monitored and valued production using ARIES/PEEP/PhDWin, checked Eclipse reservoir simulations for correctness, reviewed and managed loan contracts/documents.

Chemical & Petroleum Engineer (Acquisitions & Reservoir Engineer)

Marathon Oil Company

• Reservoir engineer for the Byron and Garland fields located in northern Wyoming (Big Horn Basin).  Very experienced in water and CO2 flooding techniques along with other methods of secondary and tertiary recover.

• Responsible for planning most of the field engineering work (pump changes, planning frac jobs/perfs, monitoring fluid levels, etc.).

• Analyzed and monitored current field performance (using ARIES, OFM, DSS, Eclipse, and DIMS), determined locations for vertical/horizontal drill wells, generated, designed, and implemented work-over/rework projects, conducted pressure transient testing.  Also managed pipeline and turbo machinery work.

• Worked with field personnel to increase field production by 20%.

• Composed the fields’ budgets, managed multiple field projects, and handled cost accounting for tens of millions of dollars in capital and expense spending throughout the year.

• Utilized TERAS (stochastic economic evaluation) and MS Excel to determine project economics.

• Trained on Eclipse and Qualified Reserve Estimator for Marathon Oil Company.

I have 18 years of experience in the oil and gas industry primarily focusing on acquisitions and reservoir engineering (SEC Reporting / project management / reservoir studies) having evaluated and worked fields and projects in basins located all across the world - tending to concentrate more on the Permian, Big Horn (Rockies, in general), Williston, San Joaquin, and Appalachian basins.  I am just as familiar with conventionals as I am with unconventionals due to the unique time frame of my career.  In total, I have evaluated more than $40 billion in properties and have closed on over $1 billion in value. I have also done a considerable amount of consulting for hedge funds and wealthy individuals on E&P, mining (coal, rare earth, precious metals), and alternative energy.   I am a big fan of Python and R and love learning about new software.  My wife and I are very passionate about dog rescue, specifically English Bulldogs.
