I'm thrilled to announce that my web3 community, DICT has been selected as a service provider for a FAM trip to Shin'onsen which is one of the local governments in Japan.

What is a FAM trip?
A FAM trip stands for “familiarization trip” and is one incentive of being in the travel industry. FAM trips are exclusive educational trips for travel agents, media personnel, and resellers. These familiarization trips provided by travel businesses such as travel operators, tour operators, and accommodation suppliers allow them to experience their services and destinations first-hand. FAM trips are opportunities for travel businesses to familiarize agents and media personnel with their destination and immerse them in the local culture, introduce them to local operators, and highlight the benefits their company offers, essentially take them backstage. For instance, they can have the opportunity to meet a celebrity chef that they have been referring their clients to.

Shin'onsen (新温泉町, Shin'onsen-chō) is a town located in Mikata District, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 April 2022, the town had an estimated population of 12,814 in 4873 households. Shin'onsen has a mixed economy of commercial fishing, agriculture and tourism. The town is known for its hot spring resorts and also for the production of "Tajima beef".

The area of the modern town of Shin'onsen was within ancient Tajima Province, and corresponds almost directly to the area of ancient Futakata District. In the Edo Period, it was divided between an area was controlled by Toyooka Domain, and by tenryo territory under direct administration of the Tokugawa shogunate. Following the Meiji restoration, the villages of Onsen and Nishihama and were established within Mikata District with the creation of the modern municipalities system on April 1, 1889. On December 11, 1891, Nishihama was raised to town status and renamed Hamasaka. On October 1, 2005, Onsen and Hamasaka merger to form the town of Shin'onsen.

Ongoing Urban farming is showing progress

Drawing from past post https://lnkd.in/g3jpm3fx with a guide through the invaluable process of hands-on farming. Highlighted how I selected a farm and considerations for the next activities.

Here what happaned next 

Proper land preparation and seed preparation for transplanting are important steps to ensure the success of your crops. 

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏
- Assess Your Land: Understand soil quality, water availability, and sunlight exposure.
- Clearing and Tilling: Prepare the land by removing debris and tilling the soil
- Soil Amendments: Test and amend soil with organic matter or fertilizers. For my case using organic and trying to maintain all chemical free.
- Plot Design: Plan crop layout considering spacing and companion planting (reddish, carrot, cabbage and leafy)

𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠
- Seed Selection: Choose high-quality seeds suitable for your climate. 
- Nursery Setup: Start seeds indoors or in a nursery for optimal germination.
- Soil Preparation: Use well-draining soil in seed trays or pots for healthy root development.
- Monitoring and care: Maintain proper temperature, humidity, and watering levels.
-Transplanting Day: Carefully transplant seedlings into prepared beds, ensuring proper spacing.
-Post-Transplant Care: Water newly transplanted seedlings immediately and provide ongoing care.

And the core context of why trying such is important, for me, 𝐈 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 (a LLM incorporating RAG model and its application in agriculture leveraging expertise skills to enhance productivity, for another day). 

Incorporating modern technology like Language Models (LLM) and RAG models into agricultural practices can revolutionize the way we approach farming. 

Understanding these technologies firsthand provides invaluable insights into their practical application and potential benefits for agriculture...
