What most people do: 
Post more, hope harder and chase viral comment sections.

Here's what actually works: 
Stop waiting for the algorithm to choose you. Take control instead.

The algorithm can change tomorrow. Your reach can drop 50%. LinkedIn can shift how posts get distributed.

But three things will always work:
1. A thoughtful comment on someone's post gets seen.
2. A genuine DM starts a real conversation.
3. A virtual coffee chat builds an actual relationship.

No algorithm update can take those away from you.

Stop exhausting yourself in massive viral comment sections hoping someone notices you. 

You're competing with 500 other people saying surface-level things.
You have limited time. 

Don't waste it commenting on every viral post with thousands of comments just because of FOMO.

Be selective about where you engage.

- Does this person's content actually align with my work? 
- Would connecting with them move my goals forward?

The first line you write is almost never the one you should keep. Here's why:

 We start writing with the algorithm in our heads. 
"How do I get clicks? How do I not get buried? How do I go viral?" 

That mindset poisons the well before you even begin. 

By line 2 or 3, something shifts.
You stop performing and start speaking. 

You remember why you sat down to write in the first place. You remember what you actually wanted to share... what might actually help someone.


Because... If the only interesting part of your post is the hook, and everything after it falls flat, you don't have a hook problem.

You have a content problem.

The solution isn't a better opening line.

It's a better post.


Write something worth reading first. Then find the hook inside it.

Not the other way around.

How often do you write hooks you don't actually believe in?

If you asked me what I love most about LinkedIn, it's not the money I've made, the follower count or the engagement rates...

It's the people. The opportunities. The community.

It's so easy to get stuck refreshing notifications or spiraling over a post that flopped. 

The vanity metrics game will eat you alive if you let it.

But what if you zoomed out?

You'd realize how many doors have opened despite your vanity metrics. How many opportunities came from just showing up consistently. How many meaningful connections you've actually made.

Case in point: my amazing friend Melissa Gaglione ⭐️.

Thanks to her, I got my first brand partnership... and flew all the way from Medellín to Tampa for it.

My first time on a yacht. 
My first time meeting what were, to me, huge LinkedIn creators. 

I had been watching her work long before she noticed me. 

It built my credibility and was the beginning of so much more.

So, here's the story:

Back in January 2024, she had under 15K followers and decided to pull off something wild: a whole B2B Content Creator House and yacht event.

She invited 30 creators (some with huge followings, some small like myself) and secured sponsors, covered flights, hotel rooms, hired a private chef and video production team, and even threw a yacht party.

For many of those creators, it was their first real brand partnership. A chance to build their portfolio when B2B collabs were still pretty rare for smaller accounts.
Melissa's post two weeks ago reminded me of this amazing opportunity she gave me and so many others.

Building to 700 subscribers with just 1 issue published. Here's the content strategy and system that got us here:

We launched The Workflow's first newsletter 2 weeks ago. 

I'm leading content strategy alongside my cofounder Sara, who handles editorial and strategy.

The scorecard: nearly 700 subscribers, 1 issue live.

Here's the honest breakdown:

1. Strong foundations
Having a cofounder who excels at strategic positioning? Crucial. Sara's sharp marketing strategy and Swiss Army knife-level organization set us up right.

2. Design that stops the scroll
Our designer Salomé at Distinctiva is a creative genius. She brought our idea to life and created our logo, look and feel, and color palette.

3. Hyper-organized systems
We run a detailed Kanban board tracking exactly where each task and post is in the pipeline. Our shared drive has prompts, outreach templates, and pre-written messages. No reinventing the wheel.

4. Manual mapping (yes, really)
Each issue has its own complexity. Every interviewee explains their workflow differently, but we keep our format consistent. I use Miro to manually create The Workflow Diagram for each issue—showing the exact process and tools used.

5. Launch smart, not just loud
We optimized launch posts for algorithms and personally reached out to our networks for genuine engagement.

6. Think three steps ahead
We recorded every interview knowing we'd turn them into highly produced video content later. This prevents the content hamster wheel.

7. Maximize each piece
Every newsletter becomes 5+ content pieces across Substack Notes, personal profiles, and company pages.

8. Create space for creativity
Having this content engine working smoothly gives us mental space for crazier, more innovative ideas. The system handles the baseline—we focus on what's next.

9. What's next
Creating PR packages for our guests that make them look amazing (not us). This turns contributors into champions.

10. Embrace reality
That post we were convinced would blow up? Flopped. Typical. You iterate or you stagnate.

On automation:

We haven't automated anything yet. Why? Because automating a process you haven't perfected is just efficient chaos.

We're still refining messaging, adjusting formats, fixing mistakes. Yes, we use AI where it makes sense.

But once we nail THE NEWSLETTER WORKFLOW? 
You'll be the first to know.
Because even one channel requires a content flywheel and system.

Full context:
We spent months before launch on positioning, branding, design, templates, and interviews. Then ran pre-launch content for 1.5 months to build our following before publishing issue # 1.


Building in public means sharing the messy middle, not just the wins. 

So here's the full picture...not just the ≈700 subscribers.

Building a coherent narrative is how buyers start to see you as THE solution.

Not just another vendor.

Here's how to build one:

➝ Step 1: Know your ecosystem

Identify the 2–3 themes that matter most to your buyers.

These aren't random ideas. 
They're tied directly to your solution and your unique point of view.

➝ Step 2: Reinforce them systematically

Don't bury your best ideas in one post and move on.

Turn them into a flywheel:

- Repeat them from different angles until they stick
- Interconnect content so every piece points back to the core
- Repurpose across formats and channels 
   (posts, carousels, video, newsletters)

➝ Step 3: Let consistency compound

Over time, the problem you solve — and your way of solving it — becomes synonymous with your brand.

People stop searching for "[X], agency" "[X] tool" 
And start searching for YOU specifically.

That's when you know your narrative is working.

My client hit 194K impressions last month. I got 65K.

And I couldn't be happier about it.

Here's what actually matters:

We closed 2 high-ticket deals and brought in 10 inbound leads this month.

That personal brand we've built is one of their company's biggest marketing levers for building awareness and growing in a tough, competitive space.

Start asking: 
Are you reaching the people who actually matter to your goals?
