There’s a performance-killing glitch hiding in your Meta ad data.  

And 80% of media buyers don’t even know it exists.

I’ve been inside over 250+ Meta ad accounts.  
Seen this mistake in at least 45% of them.  

Here’s exactly how to fix duplicated CAPI events using event ID and deduplication parameters 👇  

Let’s first break down the root cause:  

1. Meta sees your browser event.  
→ Then sees the same server event.  
→ Without a match, it counts both.  

Result:  
→ One purchase becomes two.  
→ Metrics go wild.  
→ ROAS looks better than it is.  

What's the fix?  
→ We need a common identifier tied to one event.  

Here’s how to do it right using event ID and deduplication:  

1. Always capture the event ID on client-side (pixel).  
▪ Example: purchase ID, random UUID, etc.  
▪ Attach it to Meta Pixel using `eventID`.  
▪ Code example:  
 `fbq('track', 'Purchase', {}, {eventID: '123456'})`

2. Pass the same event ID to server-side (CAPI).  
▪ Use the same ID value from the pixel.  
▪ Attach it as `event_id` in your server event payload.  
▪ Code example:  
 `"event_id": "123456"`  

3. Verify deduplication is working.  
↳ Meta compares browser + server events.  
↳ If `eventID` matches, it only counts one.  

How to check if it’s working? Use Meta Events Manager:  
→ Go to your pixel  
→ Check diagnostics section  
→ Look for warnings like “Missing deduplication parameters”

If you don’t see it, you’re good.  

⚠️ Bonus mistake to avoid:  
Don’t generate separate event IDs on client and server.  

✓ SAME ID → Meta matches → No duplicates  
✕ Different IDs → Meta confused → Counts twice  

Every event should have only one unique fingerprint.  

It’s a tiny pointer.  
But it keeps your whole data house clean.  

Duplicate events = Dirty data = Wrong decisions.
