"Dad, what did you do to solve the big problems of our time?" I recently imagined this question come up in a future conversation with my daughter. These were my thoughts on how I'd come up with a response: Over the course of my career in innovation consulting and software sales, I've had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the transformative power of technology in shaping a better world. Check! Technology would form part of my answer. But how did I pinpoint the right issue to tackle? I zoomed out, adopted a generational perspective. And quickly, my focus honed in on the climate crisis. I read a lot, had a lot of conversations. And arrived to the conclusion that I wanted to work on truly decarbonising our economies. But how? Further research into this led me to a pioneering Berlin-based startup called "Plan A", building the leading end-to-end business decarbonisation platform. Check again! I wanted to join Plan A to make businesses more sustainable. But in which role? Truth be told, sales wasn't the path I had foreseen. I serendipitously stumbled into it. Yet, those who know me best will affirm that it's a natural fit. They'd agree that I've always been good at asking the right questions, listening to people, building relationships, connecting people, and ultimately finding ingenious ways to solve their most pressing problems. For this reason, I must have come to love strategic sales. And - check - here I am: building the enterprise segment in DACH for Plan A. So, should this conversation with my daughter ever happen: "Dear Luna, to solve the most pressing issues of our time, I am empowering enterprises on their decarbonisation journey."
