I failed more times than I care to count.
I tried a few things that didn’t work:

🚫 Growth marketing wasn’t my first choice.

🚫 Personal branding didn’t feel like my calling.

🚫 Everyone kept telling me to “niche down.”

🚫 BUT I didn’t want to choose.

Because I believed I could be both:
A breathwork facilitator and a marketer.

And yet - I almost quit.

In 2021, I broke into the US market.
It wasn’t magic. It wasn’t overnight.

No big wins. No shortcuts.

It took time. It took patience.
But everything shifted.

Schedule of a full-time growth strategist:

(Spoiler: It’s not rainbows and roses)

Wake up at 5 am. Meditate, journal, visualize. 
Whip up the perfect oat milk matcha latte.

Write three high-performing LinkedIn posts in 30 minutes (killer hooks, obviously).
Go for a run, hit 10,000 steps, and finish with yoga.
Create a mood board for my next client photo shoot.
Take 3-4 strategy calls with CEOs and entrepreneurs.
Close a huge personal branding project for an international company.
Polish next month’s content calendar so it’s chef’s kiss perfect.
Cook organic veggies for my kid by 6 pm because we’re that healthy.

End the day reading a life-changing personal development book.
In bed by 9:30 pm.

Feeling like I just won at life.
Smiling as I nod off.
The perfect day.

BUT… let’s be honest:

Most days, I wake up at 6 am.
Groggy from hitting snooze. Twice.
Scroll LinkedIn drinking (decaf) coffee.

No yoga. No meditation. 
Just scrolling Instagram Drafts.
Feeling guilty about the course I STILL haven’t finished.

See a trending audio, film a Reel with random clips for Instagram. ADHD sneaks in.
…and I forget to post because it’s not, ugh, perfect.

Skip yoga. Skip veggies.
Drink coffee. Then more coffee.
Watch Married at First Sight Australia.
Order pizza because who has time to cook?

BUT…
I still sleep fine.
Smiling as I nod off.*
Because some days are polished.
And some days? 

Well, they’re just pizza and vibes 🥐

Real talk:

Being a mom, growth strategist, and content creator is messy. But it’s my kind of messy.

“We are so bad at keeping in touch,” she said.

And yet, we meet every time I’m in town.

Two years ago, I reached out to a woman on LinkedIn.

I was looking for a French entrepreneur 
Who had made it on the platform.
Her name was Nausheen I. Chen.

We jumped on a call, and it didn’t take long for me to notice something unexpected.
Her accent wasn’t French.

“You’re not French,” I said? She laughed.
“Not by birth. But I became French, passed all the exams and everything.”

Then she told me something that gave me goosebumps:
“I’m actually moving to Toulouse.”

Toulouse. My hometown.
Talk about serendipity.

A few months later, we met for the first time.
We shared meals, stories, and laughter.
Every catch-up felt effortless, 
Like no time had passed.

The beauty of this friendship? 
It doesn’t rely on messages or likes.
It’s not about LinkedIn algorithms.
It’s about real moments.

Yesterday, in Toulouse, we met again.
Our little Christmas reunion.
It hit me how lucky I am.
To have people like her in my life.

So, if I met you through LinkedIn, know this:

Fear isn’t the problem. What you do with it is.

A few years ago, I worked with a group of Jiu-Jitsu athletes preparing for competition. One of them, came up to me after the workshop and admitted:
“I’m terrified of dying during a fight.”

That fear was living in his body.
It made him freeze instead of moving.
It stopped him from trusting his instincts. 

In our session, we didn’t try to erase it. That’s not what healing is about.
Instead, we transformed it.

Through breathwork and hypnosis, 
We shifted : fear was not the enemy. 
It was the reminder: You’re alive. 
You’re present. You’re capable.

The next time he stepped onto the mat, 
The fear was still there. Only this time,
He fully owned it, he breathed on it.

He walked away with a gold medal. 
Another athlete took home the silver.

And here’s the truth: Healing doesn’t make the fear disappear. It gives you something better.

It teaches you how to stand in the fire without burning.

→ This is what leaders do.
→ This is how growth happens.
→ This is what resilience looks like.

If you’ve ever felt stuck, I want you to remember this:

Fear will show up again. But so will your strength.

How will you show up? Will you let it freeze you - or will you let it fuel you?

Everyone talks about niching down. 
This 1 shift levelled up everything for me.

(It’s not about what you do, but HOW you show up) 🔥

In 2020

→ Focused on building “The Spur Way” business.
→ Pressured to have it all figured out.

In 2021

→ Studied marketing psychology to grow my audience.
→ Trained in neuroscience and breathwork to help leaders perform better.

In 2023

→ Found joy in speaking and running beach retreats.
→ Grew the “Geraldine Spurway” brand authentically by doing what lights me up.

Here’s what worked:

1. Storytelling to build trust and credibility.
2. Simplified systems to save energy.
3. Breathwork to stay calm under pressure.
4. Surrounding myself with inspiring people.
5. Visualizing success every single day.
6. Showing up daily, no matter what.

But here’s the truth:

→ It wasn’t the fastest path.
→ It was the most fulfilling one.

Because success isn’t about doing more.
It’s about doing what aligns.

So, as we step into 2025:

→ Say yes to what aligns with your vision.
→ Define what success means to you.
→ Say no to what drains your energy.

Because the life you’re building starts with the choices you make today.

Why I built my business in English (and what’s changing)

Fourteen years ago, I landed in London with a suitcase and no plan.

English became my default.
My work, my conversations, my thoughts.

When I started my business, 
Building it in English felt natural.

But along the way, something happened.

Nearly 50% of my clients turned out to be French, even though I’ve rarely created content in French.

This summer, something shifted.

I ran a retreat in France, in French. 
And for the first time, I saw my work 
In a completely new light.

→ The power of breathwork.
→ The healing through energy work.
→ The transformation in the space I hold. 

The retreat awakened something in me.

A few days ago, I decided to try something.
I shared a story in French on Instagram.
It blew up - completely unexpected.
The views, the saves, the engagement.

And now, I’m here. On LinkedIn.
An English caption. A French video.
I have always loved living dangerously.
Also. Marketing is about testing.

There’s too much “New Moon, new beginnings.”

( And not enough “I felt stuck under the same moonlight.)

This year, I:

Took bold first steps and stumbled halfway.
Kept moving forward even when nothing changed.
Leaned on my tribe when doubts crept in.
Faced ( Big ) fears holding me back.

The last New Moon of the year is today.
A moment to pause. Reflect. Start again.

This year wasn’t easy.
But growth never is.

We don’t talk enough about the messy parts.
The waiting. The wondering. The what-ifs.
And the Gurus only shows the highlights.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

The first step isn’t supposed to be easy.
It’s supposed to change you.

And when you find your tribe - those who see you and stand beside you - it all starts to feel possible again.

The journey isn’t perfect.
It isn’t meant to be.
But it is worth it.

Every ending is a beginning in disguise.
