Early in my career, I had a moment I'll never forget.

I was in a meeting with the big shots.

Heads of Finance, HR, and Sales—discussing the project that I was supposed to lead.

It was my first time working on something this big, so I sat in the back, quietly taking notes, just thankful for being in the room.

Then my manager turned to me and said:

"Gio, what do you think?"

I froze. 

And I held back by giving some generic ass answers.

 Afterwards my manager pulled me aside and ripped me.

"I didn’t bring you here to sit quietly. I brought you here to share your expertise. You’re the expert on this—so speak up!"

Damn. 

Felt like I had just been hit by a truck. 

And that conversation changed everything for me.
