I was at the grocery store yesterday (forgot to order ahead), and I found myself in the soup aisle.

As it gets colder my wife loves soup, so I wanted to surprise her.

A few years ago, I was doing what everyone said. (it kinda tanked my business and my sanity)

Posting 7 days a week.
Giving away value like a sampler at Costco.
Telling stories, sharing insights, tip after tip.

I thought content would trampoline me forward. 

That if I just kept showing up, the clients would come.
That people would comment, DM, ask “How can I work with you?”

But that sh!t never happened.

I was so confusec.

Because all the advice, the gurus, the courses, said content was the magic key.

That it was the engine of "trust, credibility, and conversion".
But there I was posting my little heart out and nobody but my dad cared. (seriously, he's the real MVP)

I do a fair amount of in-person networking, so zooming out I started to see what I was missing on LinkedIn. 

The content was creating attention.
But it wasn’t creating any action.

And action doesn’t come from passively consuming. It comes from connection.

From real, intentional conversations. So I started starting them. 

I stopped waiting for comments.
Literally, whoever I wanted in my circle. 

One DM thread.
One voice note.
One human at a time.

I met a lot of people. (still do)
A healthy number turned into clients.
Real freakin momentum.

Content is great, and I love creating it!
But connection, DM's, actual conversations,  will grow you faster than anything else.

Your pipeline grows at the speed of your follow up.

Most founders think their sales stall because the economy is weird right now or their offer needs some tweaking.

But the real leaks hide in the time it takes you to follow up.

There’s this pattern I noticed in my business, and I've seen in repeated across 100 or so founders, where messages get sent once, maybe twice, then the thread dies.

You checked a box because the outreach happened.
It feels respectful because nobody wants to seem pushy.
It feels safe because the "possibility" of a deal still exists.

But those aren’t symptoms of a weird economy.
You're avoiding tension... because it's uncomfortable.

I did this a lot. 

I assumed the problem was nobody wanted what I had.
I looked at my services, timing, and my price.
Every quiet lead felt like a lost cause.

The truth is simpler and more uncomfortable.

Buyers need to feel a little tension too.
When you're overly polite nothing really moves forward.
Silence isn’t a no, people need to led.

Fix your follow ups and restore that tension.

Push for an answer in conversations buyers were still thinking about.
Remind them of the cost of staying stuck.

If you have the right people in your pipeline (you probably do) they just need to be led to the finish line.

As a founder we don't have the luxury of a whisper and wait approach.

You have to step up in the silence and move people, or you're risking losing it all.

Trust isn’t earned over time. (buckle up for this)
It’s built in moments that actually touch people.

Trust is a system disguised as a feeling.

I see a lot of Founders and consultants treating trust like something that magically appears after a few strong posts or a well designed offer page.

They create content, giveaway value, and hope buyers eventually sense their credibility.
It looks productive, but it keeps your audience in observer mode instead flipping them into buyer mode.

(think like this... which do you feel more: watching a basketball game or playing in it?)

When it doesn't work, we're smart enough to know there's a problem.

The common diagnosis is that prospects need more proof or more education. But doing more of the "same" feels desperate, and your buyers know it.

The real issue is that your buyers are never allowed to experience the offer before they buy.

(think of it like a test drive. wouldn't you like to drive a Ferrari before you buy it?)

They feel nothing.
And when they feel nothing, they move on.

Trust comes from exposure to your solution. 
It rarely comes from reading your knowledge on a page.

How do I know? For 2 years I consistently posted on LinkedIn following all the advice. 
The good stuff, not the cringey tactics. 
I practically gave myself away (glad to).
Nada happened.

When I built my first real offer activation (a pre-buy experience)...
3 people came, I closed 1.
Next, 5 people came, I closed 2.
10 people came, I closed 3.

You get the drift. I've created close to $900,000 in opportunities this year (not counting the opportunities this system has created in my client's businesses).

If I was building my first pre-buy experience again here's exactly what I'd do...

Here are 3 ways to let your buyers experience your offer before they buy:

1. Give them a micro-process that demonstrates your approach in action (not a tip, the actual mechanism).

2. Reveal one belief you consistently rewire for clients and show how it plays out in real decisions.

3. Share a real breakdown of a fixed client problem so buyers can sense the before and after inside what you do.

Trust becomes predictable when buyers experience the real you.

(if you're stuck, you're not doing enough of that)

You're chasing new leads... 
but the easiest revenue is in the leads that said maybe.

Your pipeline probably isn't empty because nobody is interested.
It's empty because you follow up lost its edge and the buyer is back to being comfortable.

Think about the last time YOU bought something you NEEDED.

A nail in your tire? Ugh, the worst.
Did you take a week to get it repaired?
No. You immediately went to Discount Tire.
2 hour repair? Damn, but you did it and got back on the road.

Discomfort leads to action.

Deals drift into nowhere.
Not because buyers walked away, but because no one reactivated the tension that made them raise their hand.

As founders we assume the silence means the buyer changed their mind.
We treat stalled deals like a closed door.

The real issue is the follow up (or worse a lack of one).

Too soft.
Too polite.
Too educational.
It soothes instead of stirs.

3 messages can change the physics of the conversation.

Bring tension back. Warm up cold conversations. Give them a reason to care again.

As promised, here's the exact flow my clients and I use (save this for later):

Message 1 
Re-anchor the problem they wanted solved and remind them what staying stuck will cost.
Intro line: “I keep thinking about the challenge we discussed, especially the part that slows everything else down…”

Message 2 
Show them what's possible now without adding more complexity.
Intro line: “We've solved this dozens of times by doing ____ and ____ when we did that with ____ client ____ happened.”

Message 3 
Give one clear next step they can take today.
Intro line: “____ is doable, and the next step is ____”

These can be direct messages... or my favorite is a tailored nurture cadence that's slightly automated. When a lead falls off, you should receive reminders with the "template" so you can plug in the clients info and send them at specific times. 

Make it a system, because systems scale.

Follow up is part persistence and part leadership that refuses to let a good buyer stay stuck.

Calling it “custom” is how you cope with not having a system.
(shots fired I know, but let me explain)

Scaling dies the moment chaos becomes normal.

Many of us as founders keep juggling clients like spinning plates.

Random check ins.
Delivery hinged on something you heard on the last call.
There are new fires to put out every week.

It all looks like “hustle” on the outside… but feels like things are falling apart on the inside.

Most of us assume money is coming slow because we need more talent or even better clients.

That belief feels logical, but it’s probably wrong.

I'm betting you have a delivery system that shifts every time a new client gets signed.
(I did. I needed to move at least 3 things every time a new client came on.) 

You might have a system where every result depends on you improvising in real time.
Or, a system with no solid, reliable process, just people (if you're solo then you're people 😂) holding things together.

Every inconsistency in your output comes from you doing it differently each time.
(read that again, because following the same mental checklist is not the same as having a system)

When your process becomes a sequence instead of a scramble, results repeat.
When results repeat, trust starts to stack up.
When trust stacks, scaling is easier.

There are 4 things you should be working on right now to remove variability.
No gatekeeping them, here's what they are and why they matter...

1/ Standardized Inputs
-> When every client starts differently, every outcome is unpredictable.

2/ Repeatable Process
-> If you solve the same problem five different ways, you’ll get five different results.

3/ Measurable Progress
-> Without clear milestones, you can’t tell what’s working or what’s off track.

4/ Predictable Client Results
-> Consistent delivery builds trust, referrals, and revenue, without chaos creeping back in.

All of this should be built into your offer. When I say offer don't hear that as a "coach" thing, or a "guru" term. If you're an agency, or a SaaS company, or an accounting firm, you should have an OFFER and it's not a list of capabilities.

This is where chaos turns into clarity.
