At the end of 2015, approaching full-on burnout, my 24/7 work routine landed me a divorce. Living the dream, right? You see, all of the books, frameworks, and coaches I had hired to try and scale New Haircut called for fanatical prospecting, cold email sequences, and spammy tripwires. It felt like I was tricking people into doing business with me. Because these methods felt inauthentic, they failed to work for me. (you too?) So I started experimenting. I turned my services into productized offers: affordable, do-it-yourself products my target clients could use to solve their own problems. The products delivered value and showcased my expertise. That made me the trusted choice for the premium, done-for-you services I offered. As customers began buying them, revenue stabilized, sales cycles shortened, and profits jumped 1,810%! After 3 years, I had earned $80k in product sales and $900k in premium services -- all from this automated flywheel I had built.
