My vision is to change the notoriously low success rate of small businesses in the retail food industry by minimising the risky start, creating an opportunity for every new food business owner to explore ideas and increase the chances of seeing their food products on a retail shelf. The food industry can be complex and overwhelming when starting from scratch, so mentoring and coaching are at the core of my services and I actively gather a network of experienced outsource partners with relevant expertise in areas such as: website development, graphic design and brand creators, food technologists, marketing professionals, retail buyers and consultants, and more. A corporate escapee from the 'big' end of town, I left my career in project management, retrained and followed my passion into the kitchens of Melbourne in pursuit of a real food culture. Discovering just how hard it was to get appropriate, industry-specific help and to access compliant space suitable for food safe production, I decided to build Australia's first kitchen incubator, My Other Kitchen, and in 2017 formed The Business of Food consultancy. My ideal partnerships are with Councils, cultural groups, small business support groups, Government departments and programs concentrating in the health space, accelerator programs that require their cohort to have an MVP, education organisations running programs such as Self-Employment Assistance (previously known as NEIS), professional associations and CALD support groups. Basically, any organisations in the business of supporting business owners looking to be successful in the food industry.
