For all of those panicking about the Mayor election in NY I suggest you try this little experiment.

Start in Buffalo and drive through Niagara Falls, NY and cross into Niagara Falls, Ontario.  

Notice the road quality? How about the number of homeless?

Now keep driving through to Hamilton, Ontario, similar make-up of Buffalo.  Drive around, look at the houses, government schools, hospitals, green spaces, university and college.  Amazing, no fires. 

Now turn north and head to Kitchener-Waterloo.  

Wait, how can this be?  

A country with free healthcare, access to education, social safety nets... has a tech hub that rivals (if not exceeds) Silicon Valley in innovation output? 

This can't be.  

The same can be seen in the Scandinavian countries and to a lesser degree in Australia (only because Australians would prefer to have a BBQ or go to the beach and let the rest of the world innovate).  

It is an outdated, unproven idea that having social programs kills entrepreneurship and innovation.  In fact, by giving everyone a fair start and level playing field is the founding principle of capitalism and it allows a much greater resource base to play in the game.

To New Yorkers, embrace the change, you will make more money working less.
