            The Rise of the Blue Collar Coach — And Why It Should Concern You There’s been a surge lately. Every week on LinkedIn and the social media groups, a new “blue collar business coach” appears. The branding is slick. The messaging sounds good. The software is “revolutionary”. The offers? All the same: “Let me help you grow your trades business and increase your profits.” But here’s the question every service business owner should ask: Who are you taking advice from — and have they actually lived what you’re going through? Not All Coaches Are Built the Same If someone has never: • Hired or fired a tech • Quoted a $18k install at a kitchen table • Crawled into an attic at 9pm • Worried about payroll • Dealt with callbacks, regulations, or no-shows… Then what are they actually coaching you on? Most of these new “blue collar coaches” have never worked a day in the trades. Never built a service team. Never navigated the chaos of running a real service business. And yet, they’re advising businesses like yours. This Isn’t Business Theory — It’s Field-Tested Judgment Running a trades business is not the same as running a SAAS business. It’s not a coaching course. It’s not a “brand vibe.” It’s a daily grind that demands industry specific financial clarity, leadership, and grit. You wouldn’t let a first-year apprentice design your duct system or roofing layout. So don’t let someone with zero field experience advise you on your business.
