How I made a £10k deal watching military aircraft flyby ✈️


It was 5am in the morning, bleary eyed (not a morning person!) we were leaving the house.

We began our 3 hour trip to Wales to visit the Mach Loop.

This is where military aircraft and jets will often do low pass flybys, if you get up the hillside you can be practically at eye level with the planes!

We were extremely lucky and I took a few snaps too 📸

By lunch time we decided to go grab some grub and a potential client had messaged me.

I decided to give him a buzz, I knew he was going to Wales next week on holiday, I also knew he was keen on the Mach loop.

I sent him pics and vids of what we'd seen, he was excited, and asked me about how he could see it.

So why tell you this? I was telling him my story, whilst having an understanding of his own.

This was easily led into conversations about telling his company story, creating internal Comms.

He was already excited, I'd built rapport and trust through storytelling.

By the time we were setting off home, he'd sent me a spreadsheet of dates and an offer of £10k+ for a project for the end of this year, with the potential of tripling it for next year! 💵

Stories are powerful, they will be the new currency of attention as AI continues it's explosive growth.

A lesson from a daddy daughter date...

With the weekend sun beaming down I'm not going to lie, one feeling, 2 words, engulfed me...

Never one to miss a trip to the pub, my favourite little girl wanted to join me for a pint!

As we sat chatting for a little while and spotting planes from a local airshow fly over (it was hard to not hear the Spitfire!)

It occurred to me, this little 10 year old, normally glued to her phone, was listening to the stories I was telling her of where I've been and what I'd like to do.

It clicked, she's emotionally bought in...

Emotive stories are the new currency when it comes to buying intent.

So that's it, it's officially happened...


AI produced content has dominated our feeds for a while now and the affects on our audiences is now being felt.

It turns out according to 'The Australian' AI is now eroding customer trust.

It's not that the AI is bad, in fact I'd argue currently it's better than ever!

But people lack connection.

It's back to the old adage... People buy from people.

We build emotional connections with people, their stories, their experiences, their values.

All of the aspects that make us human.

Video can tell this story better than any other medium.

AI can be incredible for so many different things, but for me...

Storytelling, authenticity, building a genuine connection with your audience, is not one of those things.
