Most marketers are using AI like a Google search.

They're missing 80% of its potential.

I've spent the last year perfecting how marketers can actually prompt AI tools to get strategic, actionable output. 

Here's what I learned works:

❌ Bad prompt: "Write me a marketing strategy"

✅ Better prompt: "I'm launching a B2B SaaS product targeting marketing directors at companies with 50-200 employees. Our differentiator is real-time competitor analysis. Create a 90-day go-to-market strategy focusing on LinkedIn and industry events, with specific messaging for each channel and measurable KPIs."

The difference? Context + Constraints + Clarity.

Here's my 3-step framework for marketers:

1. Set the Scene → Your role, company size, industry, timeline → "I'm a Marketing Director at a Series A fintech startup..."

2. Define Success → What specific outcome do you need? → "Generate 5 campaign concepts that could drive 200 qualified leads in Q1..."

3. Add Business Logic → Budget constraints, target audience, competitive landscape → "Our budget is £50k, targeting CFOs at mid-market companies, avoiding tactics our competitors use..."

The key insight: AI doesn't read your mind. It reads your prompts.

The better your brief, the better your output. Just like briefing your team or an agency.
