I am the former Group Data Scientist at Malayan Banking Berhad. I hold a Bachelor degree in Physics and a post-graduate qualification in Computing from The Flinders’ and Adelaide Universities respectively. I am a practicing data professional with 30 years of technical and management experience, including fields of satellite space operations, mechanical & electrical - civil & structure engineering and management, business operations, mobile technologies, sales and marketing, geo-marketing, geo-engineering and business intelligence in Telecommunications and in recent years; the Banking industry with Maybank. I am one of the first two qualified and certified satellite orbital analysts in Malaysia and consequently took part in planning, building, launching and operating Malaysia’s first and second satellites; Measat-1 and 2. My passion in data handling sparked off since early days in my career. Combining technical knowledge with business acumen, I have developed a robust applied data science methodology that acts as key business planning and strategy development tool; which earned international recognition as one of the top 5 finalists at the 2010 World Communication Award in London. I have previously served and am presently still serving as an industrial advisor sitting on the advisory boards of several local universities including Multi-Media University and HELP University. I was additionally a member of the external review panel for Monash University’s Bachelor of Computer Science in Data Science provisional accreditation exercise. I have led teams in the overall development of in-house Retail Distribution Strategy Model, focusing on high revenue–underserved, high potential-under tapped areas of interest; detection of supply chain cluster model, localized proxy market share model; market sizing model, just to name a few. Recently, I have developed the overall ESG-Climate framework from my long-researched flood simulation model, and subsequently coached the team into the development of geo-spatial workspace utilizing multi-layered data; aims to enhance support for green financing, risk management and investment management initiatives within the ESG space. I am the sole Malaysian finalist and winner at the 2023 Women in AI Awards (APAC) held in Sydney, taking home the award in Climate category.
