I’ve seen how “Scarcity Mentality” runs rampant in artistic/non-profit communities. People with a passion for non-profits are the most creative, curious, & vulnerable individuals I know. Yet too often their light dims when they talk about "the ask." I love how magic emerges when a group of people creatively collaborate. I became a director because being at the “hub” of the collaborative process the most effective way to nurture the creative gifts of everyone else around me. To supplement my directing career, I became an Artist-Fundraiser for a theater I loved. I personally raised $6+ million over the span of 8 years (in individual donations $2,000 & under). 💸 The reason why I was so successful? I didn’t have a background in fundraising OR sales. What I DID have was an INFECTIOUS PASSION for what I was raising money FOR. That passion led to FEARLESS VULNERABILITY in asking potential donors to join me in support of the work. ✨ And do you know what I found? An ABUNDANCE of untapped community members who were ENTHUSIASTIC about donating money & engaging further with the org.
