I’m a creative, problem-solving people geek that was destined to work in the world of tech start-ups and scale-ups. Fresh out of university and a few months into a new job, I became responsible for the whole HR function of the company I worked for. It happened again in my next role, and by then I was hooked. I love starting with a blank canvas, working closely with founders, and creating strong workplace cultures. I enjoy building teams from the ground up, with no preconceived ideas on how things should be, and with the freedom to test new ideas. My experience has seen me work across the entire HR function, from creative recruitment campaigns and amazing employees experiences to building high-performance cultures where people thrive. I’ve supported businesses as they scale to grow locally and overseas. With a focus on aligning business goals with people goals, I’ve drawn on people-first principles to create the best possible environment where everyone can thrive and succeed. I love the evolution of HR – how it’s changed over the years, where it’s heading, and the new mindset HR leaders need to succeed. I’m excited about the challenges around making hybrid/distributed work models succeed creating stand-out employee experiences, and building strong employer brands. I believe cultures where people can bring their best selves to work leads to high levels of trust and performance, creating a win-win for both businesses and their staff. Outside of work, I enjoy nurturing talent, start-up founders, and emerging leaders, through my volunteer roles at the University of Wollongong, iAccelerate, and Regional Development Australia.
