Yes, the title is unprotected.
Yes, anyone may use it.
That doesn’t make it right.

Coaching is not a side hobby after a weekend course.
Nor is it about fixing your own issues via the coachee.

It’s a profession where you work with people’s minds.
And where you impact their personal and business lives.

As a coach educator, I’ve trained many aspiring coaches.
And I’ve also advised some of them to stop.

Not because they weren’t kind or driven.
But because they were still working through their own unresolved issues.
With a real risk of projecting their themes onto others when coaching.

My honest, integrity-based advice wasn’t always appreciated.
I stood my ground anyway.

As coaching is a job that I take seriously, I believe in accreditation.
To keep growing in the profession and to increase #trust and #credibility.

ICF Master Certified Coach is the highest professional standard.
It demands ethics, supervision, maturity, and continuous development.

Nine years now at MCC level.
Still learning.
Still being challenged.

Coaching is a profession.
Not a label.

And when we don’t protect the craft,
we damage trust in #leadership and human development.

25 years ago, I would have said:
Success. Recognition. Career.

And honestly, that made sense at the time.
Up until my mid-thirties, I was very IQ-driven.
Ambitious. Focused. Working hard to grow, achieve, and move forward.

But underneath, I felt a lot of insecurity.
A quiet belief that doing well meant being valuable.
That recognition, growth, and performance somehow equalled worth.

So I pushed. I built. I delivered.
And I was rewarded for it.
From the outside, I was and looked #successful.

Over time, I began asking myself more profound questions.
What are my values, and how do I act on them?
What are my beliefs, and how do they guide my thoughts?
What are my fears, and how do they impact my life?
What are my needs, and how do I share them?

I worked with multiple coaches.
I did several soul-searching retreats.
And something began to shift.

I realised that success is nice.
But what matters more is feeling #fulfilled.
