I’m a long-time freelance writer and editor. Although something of a generalist, I gravitate towards health content, profiles, and service journalism. Every day, I look for ways to turn words into action to help my clients reach their goals. I’ve been a full-time freelancer since 1998. From books to magazine articles to social media posts, I write content that moves, entertains, occasionally wins awards, and always communicates effectively. Although I'm based in Louisville, KY, I’ve written for B2C and B2B clients from coast to coast, as well as in England and France (the latter in English, Dieu merci!) I’ve witnessed the fall of magazines, the rise of content marketing, and the advent of AI and SEO. I remain convinced that words written by people for people have unparalleled power. Aside from the school play I wrote in third grade, my writing career began when I studied English and journalism at the University of Mississippi. After a stint with the Boy Scouts of America in the early 1990s, I worked as a copy editor and editor for The Cobb Group (a division of Ziff Davis) and as a communications specialist in Humana’s corporate communications department before launching my freelance career. Since then, I’ve written books, annual reports, CEO speeches, Sunday school lessons, blog posts, social media content, and hundreds of magazine and newsletter articles, finding new ways every day to turn words into action.
