The future is here, and it is zero emissions! After over eleven years at the one of the top school bus dealerships in the country, I made the move in 2017 to focus on zero emissions vehicles.  We had a blast working with Blue Bird on ZEV powertrain solutions for their school buses that keep our kids safe, all equipped with new zero emissions technology to keep the air clean, and now it's time to spread the net further!

We also work with PUC's and IOU's to help with funding on the infrastructure side in addition to vehicle acquisition funding. Managed special projects for A-Z Bus, including working with CARB and air districts on clean air projects, OEM alternative fuel and ZEV development projects, cooperative purchase bids for California and NJPA, (now Sourcewell), and other projects. Also sold school buses as a Sales Manager to accounts in Southern and Central California selling Blue Bird, Micro Bird, and Collins school buses for A-Z Bus Sales, Inc., HQ in Colton, CA. I was also the A-Z Bus school bus sales rep for select larger house accounts in California as well, and the sales rep for Hawaiian Islands, delivering over 80% of the 100+ school buses sold in Hawaii in 2017. 

A-Z Bus Sales is by far the oldest and largest school bus distributor and dealer in California, and we have the widest range of alternative fuel products in all our products. A-Z Bus offers Blue Bird  Type D products in CNG and current Emissions Diesel, Blue Bird Type C products in Propane, CNG, Gasoline, and current Emissions Diesel, and Micro Bird and Collins Type A products in CNG, Propane, ULEV gasoline, and current Emissions Diesel. We also offer the Ford Transit chassis ULEV gasoline and diesel chassis exclusively in California in both the Micro Bird and Collins lines. We are working on ZEV products with all of our OEM's as well.

In addition to Roadeos, CASTO, and CASBO events, I was the Sustaining Member Representative to the CASTO State Board of Directors (Vendor Rep) for  four consecutive years , and I was the Membership Committee Chairman on the Strategic Planning Committee for CASTO for SY 2013- 2014. I also teach a T-01 Class for school bus drivers on site and at workshops.

I have been in the school bus industry with A-Z Bus for eleven years plus, and still going strong. I enjoy working with all of the people in the various agencies involved in keeping our kids safe in clean and green school buses!

Director of Sales for the oldest Yellow School Bus dealership in California and Hawaii. I have the privilege of leading four Territory Sales Managers with 117 total years of school district and school bus industry sales experience, and two inside sales administrators with 50 total years of experience. Combined with my ten years of school bus industry experience, we have 177 years of experience between seven people to take care of our customers needs at A-Z Bus Sales.

You don’t need a deep knowledge of science to understand that water and electricity do not mix. 

Electricity and water are not a good match, mainly because it can lead to dangerous – even fatal – situations. This is because water contains ions, which act as conductors. This means that a volt of electricity can travel through the water.

If your EV has been submerged in water, do NOT attempt to drive it or connect it to charging!
 
Here’s what you should know:
EV battery fire risk:
1.    EV safety systems & battery packs are designed to be safe in water, even if fully submerged. 
2.    However, EVs that have been submerged in water, particularly salt water, may have a higher potential risk of experiencing a battery short circuit, which may result in a battery fire.
3.    Once flood waters have subsided & submerged EVs start to drain, you should watch for the signs of EV battery fire
4.    EV high voltage (HV) battery is isolated from the vehicle chassis & electrocution risk is low.
5.    A submerged EV does not electrify the water around it, however if bubbles are present, move away from the vehicle as these may contain toxic gases.
6.    Exposed ORANGE cables & components indicate high voltage of over 300V & a risk of electrocution.
a.    Do not touch any exposed ORANGE cables.
b.    Do not touch exposed components that are coloured ORANGE or have ORANGE warning stickers on them.

Removal & towing:
7.    Once flood waters have subsided & if no signs of fire or exposed HV cables & components are observed, contact your EV manufacturer for advice on removal & towing.
8.    If hiring a towing company to move your EV, ensure they’ve read the manufacturer emergency response guide to determine exactly how to tow the EV to reduce risk.
9.    It’s a good idea for EVs that have been submerged to be stored at least 15m from other vehicles in tow yard, in the unlikely event the battery catches fire later.
