Skills Development and Training Officer, CQ Manufacturing Hubs

Regional management, direction & support for a team of 12 Apprentice Liaison Officers based in Gladstone, Emerald & Mackay. Apprenticeship Services is responsible for the initial contact, ongoing support and assistance, and completion of all apprentices and trainees across CQ University. It is the "front room" of CQ University and as such my knowledge, support, compliance, confidentiality and professionalism is vital in initiating and maintaining internal and external customer relationships. 

Panel member for recruitment and interviewing of potential teaching and administration staff.

Manager, Apprenticeship Services

Facilitating the training of up to 300 apprentices at a time across a range of trade areas in the CQ region including Gladstone, Biloela, Moura, Monto, Wide Bay and Mackay. Liaison between industry, Training Qld, AASN's and students. 

During this time I have also had stand-in management experience over a team of approximately 20 teachers and admin staff. I was involved in budgeting, planning and business development.

I have also been involved the recruitment and interviewing of potential teaching and admin staff. I was instrumental in organising WorldSkills 2015 competitions for Electrical - control and install, Welding, Fitting and Turning. 

My role has been quite diverse by necessity...business process reviews, marketing, conflict resolution, workarounds...I pride myself on the fact that I am the 'go to' when the manager is unavailable.

Apprenticeship Training Coordinator

Gladstone Area Group Apprentices

Employ, host out and supervise over 200 apprentices to ensure successful completion of both formal and on-the-job training whilst initiating and maintaining ongoing customer liaison and relationships.

During one of the worst downturns in business in Gladstone's turbulent history a team of 3 Field Officers successfully managed over 500 apprentices.

Administrative support to the sales executives whilst working to daily deadlines of completing layouts for the newspaper.

Liaised with many different levels of business and industry to ensure quality marketing and advertising outcomes.

Developed quick, effective graphic design outcomes for clients.

Transfield Constructions

Working independently and as a team member to meet deadlines during construction of the QCL expansion.

Fitter & Turner

NRG Gladstone Operating Services Pty Ltd

Working independently and as a team member to complete work-tasks whilst involved in a 12 month contract to overhaul turbines.

Mechtrades/Axis People

Worked on numerous shutdowns in the Gladstone area – Ticor, NRG, Ribca, BSL, QCL.

Queensland Alumina Ltd

Gained trade qualification while working on numerous aspects of the industry.

Apprentice Fitter & Turner
