I played a role in developing district-wide scoring standards for teacher evaluation procedures in one of the nation's largest public school systems. These efforts enabled our district to secure Federal grants for teacher and principal evaluation systems, providing online access and maintenance for thousands of educators and administrators. Self funding my first major investments, I purchased and managed properties, including a 2-unit building in Davenport, IA, and a 3-unit building in Chicago, IL. By networking with quality, local technicians, and with effective remote management, I consistently achieved positive yearly net income. The Chicago property was sold in 2021 as a turnkey investment, yielding a substantial cash profit from a sale price of more than twice the original purchase amount. The IA building was sold in early 2022, resulting in a strong cash profit after 14 years of successful ownership and management. A facilities services outfit was derived from ownership of the Chicago property. This venture offered commercial cleaning, maintenance and repair, as well as yard maintenance and snow removal services to corporations and individuals throughout the Chicagoland area. We were proud to have served this community while paying contractors and technicians well the entire lifecycle. This business ended safely with zero debt in 2020 when the pandemic closed most of our customers’ doors.
