7 ways to transform excuses into results:


We all have moments when we fall behind.
Sometimes it’s burnout.
Sometimes it’s fear.
Sometimes it’s just life.

Excuses aren’t weakness.
They’re signals.
You care... but something’s in the way.

The breakthrough happens when you stop explaining the stall…
and start building movement.


1) Catch the stall early
→ When “next month” becomes “next quarter,” pause.
Excuses love ambiguity. Clarity shuts them down.

2) Set the deadline before you’re ready
→ Progress starts with a decision — not confidence.
Most breakthroughs happen after you commit.

3) Shrink the first step
→ If the plan is overwhelming, it’s not a plan.
Make it small enough that excuses can’t hold on.

4) Swap perfection for proof
→ You don’t need flawless. You need forward.
Take messy action that builds momentum — not delay.

5) Start with 15 hard minutes
→ Progress begins where resistance peaks.

Feelings come. Feelings go. Like weather.

But here’s what stays:

→ The quiet question: “Is this it?”
→ The longing for more (even if you don’t know what it is)

So what do you do with that feeling?

Here’s a 4-rule framework I use with clients (and with myself).
We can’t fix the feeling, but we can move toward clarity.


Rule 1: Stop Dismissing It

That quiet tension you keep pushing down?
It’s not random; it’s information.
Ignore it, and it doesn’t go away.
It just buries deeper and builds pressure.


Rule 2: Put It on Paper

Writing it down moves it forward.
Open a doc or notebook.
List 5-10 ideas for what could be next, even if they’re unclear, impractical, or far off.
You’re not writing a plan. You’re cracking a door open.


Rule 3: Identify Three People

Find three people you trust and talk to them.
Say: “Here’s what I’m wrestling with. Can I talk it through with you?”
Initiating honest conversations creates traction.
Let them reflect back what you’re not yet seeing.


Rule 4: Take the Smallest Step You Can

Big change rarely starts with a bold leap.
It starts with a single micro-move:
The email. The question. The shift in calendar or tone.
Do something small... and don’t wait to feel ready.


Nothing changes until something moves.
It’s on you to start breaking the cycle.
