Own your mistakes even if you own the company.

We need to change our mindset if we want to progress.


Thinking only people other than us can make mistakes.

Interns or entry-level employees are especially blamed.

We need a culture where making mistakes isn’t heavily criticized.

A culture where no matter the position, people accept their mistakes.


We can achieve this by following these steps:


1. Establish a culture of constructive feedback.

Even if someone made a mistake, explain to them where they went wrong and what they can do to avoid repeating the same mistake.

2. Learn to accept feedback positively.

We need to establish a culture where people graciously accept feedback and then build upon it to get better.

3. Learn to say “Sorry, my mistake.”

Everyone can make a mistake, I’m the owner of 4+ businesses and in all my businesses if I make a mistake, I accept it and acknowledge it.

4. Build an inclusive team culture.

Your team culture should include everyone, build a team where no one feels left out and they know that they are being heard.

5. Own everything you do.

You made a mistake? Own it. You did something amazing? Own it. Stop pushing your things to others and own what you do.

Following these steps, we can build a company culture that can make every employee proud to be a part of it.

Remember, making mistakes is okay, everyone makes them.

But make sure you learn from your mistakes.

This group has significant experience in their skill set.

For example, graphic designers, bookkeepers, writers, product listers, etc. When you hire a mid-level freelancer, you're not teaching them how to do the work, but they can tweak their skills to fit the needs and specificities of your business.

However, they are not consultants. They are doers.
