Being a Manager in Ops feels like you’re being held hostage. Your goal becomes about surviving vs thriving. You’re disoriented from all the demands. It doesn’t help that you’re starved of support & guidance. You probably tell yourself the same lie I told myself. “If I put my head down & grind, I’ll be ok My hard work will speak up for me". You wonder if you’re one step away from being next. I know this because I started my nearly decade long career in Ops Management as an Area Manager at Amazon. I had no confidence and no clue WTF I was doing. I felt in the way, out of place, and useless. I almost quit 3 months in.
