Alta Loma Junior High

I then transitioned into the role of Associated Student Body Advisor where I was responsible for planning and executing all events within the organization such as: orientations, social gatherings, rallies, fundraising campaigns, and community outreach. I also taught a leadership skills course and coordinated the efforts of 25 direct reports to meet project deadlines. The accomplishment I am most proud of in this role was cultivating a safe and welcoming school community centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Advisor & Instructor

I adapted quickly while teaching during the pandemic and learned a lot of new skills for creating and facilitating instruction in a blended learning environment. I developed online modules integrating vILT, discussions, breakout groups, gamification, and self-paced e-learning, which facilitated a seamless transition to remote learning for 300+ learners. I also customized lessons using multimedia principles of learning to enhance existing learning materials for online learning, increasing learner engagement. 

During this period, I completed my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, which deepened my understanding of learning theory and research-based practices. I conducted extensive research for my capstone project on motivation, engagement, and learner performance.

South Pointe Middle School

After modernizing our social studies curriculum, I was selected to design and develop curriculum for the implementation of South Pointe’s Mandarin Dual Language Immersion Program. My responsibilities included: conducting scope and sequence, managing stakeholders, working with SMEs, hiring, learning strategy, content development, and program evaluation. By the time we matriculated our first cohort, the program had grown in enrollment by 200%.

Curriculum Developer

I was responsible for updating our social studies curriculum to incorporate current industry trends and best practices as well as to align content standards with Common Core and the C3 Framework. I led my grade level in planning inquiry units to promote academic rigor, critical thinking, problem-solving, and social learning. I was most proud of my role in fostering a culture of learning and high-performance, contributing to our school becoming a National School to Watch.

I'm a learning designer with 10+ years' experience creating impactful and experiential learning for mission driven organizations. My work combines creativity and research-based practices to bring out positive behavior change, and I'm driven by opportunities to help people grow, adapt, and excel within their roles.
