I am teaching an accelerated Canadian Securities Course (CSC).  It will be held in Sauder Business School (Pt. Grey Campus), during the first two weeks of May, 2016. This intense course - just nine mornings - will target everyone who wants to learn the fundamentals of the CSC, as quickly as possible. 

The entire CSC curriculum will be covered: 25 chapters, with quizzes, examples, mock tests, and much more. CSC is the foundation course for anyone entering the securities, and financial advisory industry of Canada.

BNP Paribas

Managed portfolio and team of banking professionals, in charge of all BNP activities in the Philippines. Defines strategy, budgets, partakes in development of asset management proposals, coordinates with auditors, central bank, fixed income, capital markets professionals.  Directly handles USD 1 billion country envelope.  Closed major deals for San Miguel ($1.1 billion), PNOC (USD 150 million), Globe Telephone (USD 90 million.)

Country Manager - Philippines

Quarterbacked corporate and commercial banking activities 13 Midwestern states of the USA. Concentrated on Fortune 500 accounts, underwriting loan, bond, and fixed income products.  Staff of 32.  Commitment book of USD 7.7 billion. Worked with teams to close major deals, such as Dynamit Nobel (USD 500 million), Abbott acquisition of Hokuriku Seiyaku (USD 1.1 billion.) Successfully transformed Chicago branch from being a lender into a financial advisory powerhouse, generating 80% of its income from made-to-measure financial products.

Regional Manager - Chicago and Midwest

Managed teams and portfolios in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Coordinated merger between corporate branches of BNP and Paribas.  Developed portfolio of 630 clients, with 11 direct reports and oversight as deputy manager for full team of 470. Oversaw commitment envelope of USD 11.2 billion, coordinating cross-selling broad spectrum of loan, project, commodity, trade, and cash management products.

Head Corporate and Investment Banking Southeast Asia

Managed corporate banking activities for Netherlands, and deputy manager of branch.  Directed 155 trust companies, 268 corporate accounts, financing films (such as Cliff Hanger, Robin Hood, Stargate), ship financing, train and infrastructure, offshore capital raising.  Oversaw 91 staff, USD 5.4 billion in commitments, 4 branches, and leasing operations.

Commercial Manager - Amsterdam & Benelux

BNP Paribas (Hong Kong)

Managed branch network, structured finance, trade business, and entities in Shenzen and Macau.  Broad spectrum of financial products from real estate, ship, infrastructure financing down to trade facilities for local exporters.  Negotiated joint-venture between BNP and ICBC in Shanghai - the first major Sino-French Bank in Shanghai.

Worked in specialized teams, inspecting BNP operations throughout France, including Head Office (Paris.)  Lead work groups to find best-practices, develop new products and services.

Inspector (Paris)

Extensive international experience, working in North America, Europe and Asia. Proven team-leader and catalyst, creating business opportunities, establishing business partnerships, and overcoming regulatory barriers. 

CEO and investment banking in Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Singapore,  Chicago, and Manila with portfolios over $8 billion. 

Coach, team builder and organizational developer, with experience in facilitating work groups, improving organizational effectiveness, motivation, and strategy. 

Lectures Canadian Securities Course, for both levels, and gives advice on investment management.
