I grew up with nothing. At 14, I almost lost my life and it changed how I saw everything. Since then, I’ve felt a deep urgency to make the most of every chance I get.

At 18, I started my first business. I was coaching, selling courses, making £10K months while still at uni. Then at LSE, I built a blockchain startup. It pivoted into a venture studio, and I helped launch two others in spacetech and biotech. I learned a lot about the importance of relationships and collaboration.

Hearing founder pitches and distribution becoming more important than tech, it pulled me into storytelling and content creation. I became a copywriter and content strategist. I freelanced. I worked inside LinkedIn agencies. Eventually, I landed my first full-time role, leading personal branding at a Series A company. And then — just like that — it was gone. Out of the blue, my colleague and I were let go in a structural change. Not performance. Just circumstance.

It wasn’t the first time I’d had to start over.

I’m 25 and 3 months into building a new business from scratch.

A year ago I shut down my studio of nearly 3 years
Took a 9-5

I got an email for a promotion 

A few days after I got let go alongside my colleague.

Founders get further when they lead with the problem they’re obsessed with. Not the amount they want to secure.

I’ve seen this over and over again.

The founders who open with a number create distance.
The founders who open with a mission create momentum.

Investors meet hundreds of people every year.
Most conversations start with funding targets.

Very few start with a purpose worth remembering.

Everything changed for me when I stopped positioning myself as a studio and started communicating the problem I was actually solving.

Creators are exceptional at building audiences.
They’re not always equipped to build ventures or tech.
That gap slows down incredible potential.

It’s expensive.
It wastes time.

It kills momentum before it ever compounds.

When a founder articulates the problem with clarity, investors understand the direction, the intent, and the scale. 

Metrics matter more once the narrative behind them makes sense.

Marcus Lemonis says business is personal.
He’s right.
People back people.

They want to understand the mindset, the thinking, and the intent behind the work.

They let founders communicate tone, conviction, and context that static slides never capture.

I’ve spent the last 7 months watching how Nick Green gets it there.

Working this closely with him has changed how I see the craft.

It is the way he moves through the process

the detail he pays attention to

the decisions he makes long before the camera rolls.

Every beat of the music is intentional.
Every angle, every colour choice, every lighting setup is deliberate.

I’ve watched him spend four hours shaping a single short video for a client because the story needed that level of care.

AI will support a lot of teams next year, but the person directing the creative still matters.

The one moment that changed how I understand friendship did not feel big at the time.

It was just Jenny saying something I could not forget.

We met when she was still studying at Imperial College London.

Today she spends her days around billionaires and family offices, helping scientists turn breakthrough IP into real companies through Nytrogen.

What I admire most is who she is when no one is watching.

The moment that stayed with me happened in the middle of an ordinary conversation.

I sat there thinking,
I do not think I have ever had a friend say anything like that to me.

I almost cried.
And it is not just the big gestures.

She bought me ketchup popcorn seasoning.
There is only one person in my life who would remember the detail of my ridiculous obsession with ketchup.

Last year she got me 2 (not 1) power banks.
Because she clocked how many times I text “sorry, phone about to die.”

Who am I to deserve a friend like Jenny Tang?

If there was an award for good friend, I would place myself very far down the list.

Through her, I have learned what support looks like.

Consistency.
Choosing inconvenience when it matters.
Regular emotional check ins.
Honest feedback that stings a little and still makes you better.

Beyond the friendship,
I learn a lot just by watching her work.
Focused.
Patient.
Completely herself.

Building a career with so much conviction that it makes you reassess what you thought was possible.

Her passion for scientist entrepreneurs is obvious.

We spent more than an hour talking about DNA, the periodic table, and the longevity space.

She knows her stuff. Deeply.

Some people anchor you.
Some people expand you.
Jenny somehow does both for me.

Long distance makes things harder in a practical sense.

But I never worry about us.

There is a calm certainty that we will keep growing in parallel, back each other when life is heavy, and step in when it counts.

I am excited for the seasons ahead.

To learn from each other.
To keep building a friendship that evolves as we do.

Yesterday I spent 3 hours writing a week’s worth of posts for a founder.
But those 3 hours weren’t just writing time.

They were research, empathy, and translation.

Here’s what I did:

I used his platform myself puting my shoes into those of his users.

I wanted to feel what his customers feel, see what they see, and understand what makes it worth their time.

Then I wrote down every question I had: the small gaps, the technical details, the “why does this matter?” kind of stuff.

We jumped on a call, and I asked him all of it.
Because nuanced content comes from context.

You can’t write what you don’t fully understand.
Once I had everything, I switched hats again this time into his voice.

I thought like him.
Spoke like him.
Wrote like him.

That’s what I love about this work.
ghostwriting isn’t just writing.

It’s a masterclass in how other people think.
(Learning hack: if you want a mentor, offer to help them write.)

The real job of a ghostwriter is getting inside a founder’s head and explaining their vision so clearly that others finally get it too in their tone, 

with their intent, through a process of iteration that helps them reach content–market fit.

Founders need help translating. They're amazing at what they do.

Turning what’s in their head into words that attract customers, partners, or investors who finally see what they see.

That’s the bridge I build.

A client said: We only hire people who are comfortable being on social.

That’s where it’s all heading.

Employee-generated content - the next stage of brand storytelling.

By 2026, your team won’t just represent the company.

They’ll be the company.

When Nick and I worked at a Series A startup, 

we made it our mission to get everyone creating even tho it wasn’t in our JD.

 At first, most said the same thing:
“I don’t think I have anything to say.”

Few months later, 
they were posting weekly.
Some still are, after we left.

Its clear to me in business that
a founder brand builds trust but a team brand builds community.

Think of your company like a film.
The customer’s the hero.
The CEO’s the main guide.

And the team?
They’re the supporting guides — the characters people fall in love with.

That’s why YouTube crews and bands work so well.
Different voices. 
Same story.

The audience gets the joy of learning from  story of the individual and the dynamics of the group. 

If your people aren’t comfortable showing up online, you’re missing out on more than reach.

You’re missing out on relationship.

Grateful for AI, creating memories that actually look real 🤣

When I started helping others with content, I felt imposter syndrome.
I didn’t come from the classic personal brand world.

I built a student writing business.
Then a tech startup.
I ran events for founders.
I helped early startups with their tech and fundraising problems.

And now I was writing again. And filming. 
Guiding people on their voice.

I was nervous of this change.
Until I started asking the people who wanted to work with me one simple question:

What made you reach out?
Their answers put my mind at ease.

Here’s what they kept telling me:

 I give clarity they can actually use
 I know how to simplify complex ideas into content people follow
 I make the process feel easy rather than stressful

It’s a habit, not a personality trait.

Hard to build when your calendar is packed and your network is huge.

But worth it.

Because attention is the rarest currency we have.

Because by promoting the ceo , he is building a reputation without shouting about himself.

People start noticing his eye for detail
His ability to capture real moments
His understanding of what makes a leader compelling
And the consistency it takes to show up behind the scenes every day

This is the part most young operators miss.

Most early-career people overlook this.

They chase attention instead of building expertise.

They try to stand out before they understand what excellence looks like.

You don’t need a loud personal brand to build a powerful one.

You need proximity, observation, and the discipline to translate what you see into stories people value.

Will is doing that better than anyone in his lane right now.

If you’re early in your career and you work with someone great, share what you’re learning.

Show the world the standard you’re exposed to daily.

Share what you’re observing.
Share the thinking you’re exposed to.
Share the lessons you’re absorbing through doing the work.

It develops your voice
It builds trust in your judgement
And it brings opportunities long before you step into the spotlight yourself.

1. Minimise friction

Execs all have busy schedules, back to back calls and even 10 minutes of writing seems like too much mental energy

It’s important that a system is built to make it as easy as brushing teeth in the morning.

2. Make it fun

These are leaders at the top of their field but still the thought of being on video or making their opinions public scares them.

Make it a fun group activity, something that requires interaction, instead of doing it alone and see how much creativity the team actually has. 

3. Make it about them, not the company

Here's the truth: People want the best for their career, their family.

You need to help your team shine, because when they do, the company will too.
If you always make it about the company, the team feels used.
When you make it about them, they feel supported to elevate.
And they will volunteer to promote the company.

Some data from LinkedIn showing the impact of Exec-led content: 

Increased Lead Generation — Startups whose founders post at least 10x a year on LinkedIn generate 33% more leads than those who don’t.

Faster Deal Velocity — Deals close 22% faster when buyers feel they “know you.”

Higher Deal Sizes – Exec visibility correlates directly with deal size: 1.7x–3.7x higher deal sizes when execs post regularly or are followed by prospects.  

Pipeline Influence – Hootsuite CEO Irina Novoselsky: “My social presence influenced ~$15M in pipeline. We close deals faster with socially engaged buyers.” Later data showed 37% of monthly leads were influenced by her content.

Employees trying too hard to sound like the CEO.

and see someone who’s never founded a company writing,
“Being a burnt-out founder is tough.”

your team won't know that pain.

They don’t know what it’s like when an investor pulls out the week before payroll.

When a client delays a £50K payment and the team still needs paying.

When two colleagues are fighting, the product launch is behind schedule, and your personal life is hanging by a thread.

The kind of burnout that feels like sitting in front of your laptop at midnight, staring at the screen, knowing the only person who can fix it… is you.

Your social manager shouldn’t try to imitate it.

Instead, help them talk about their own perspective.

Their role.
Their lessons.
Their take on the company’s mission.

That’s how you turn an employee post into something believable.

Integrate their voice into your brand.
Not the other way around.

When your team writes from their own truth
you 10x your chances of building real connection with your audience.

So if you’re leading a team that’s trying to sound like you,
help them sound like themselves.

It's easy to see through.

Someone was shocked when I said I didn’t have a deck.

Here’s the part people usually miss when they start a service business.

I used to spend weeks building decks that made no difference to my revenue.

The shift happened when I stopped trying to look polished and started talking to people instead.

Every client at the start of Futrproof came from simple conversations.

No pitch assets.
 
I asked about their problems.

I understood what was slowing them down.

I shared how we could help.

When someone wanted proof of past work, 

I sent over a few examples in a document.

Simple and enough for the right buyer.

If you need money in the bank, focus on the essentials:

• A name people can remember
• A positioning line that explains what you do
• A clear way to talk about the problem you solve
• A plan to message people and book calls
• A folder with simple examples you can send when asked

I had a long conversation about this over the weekend.

It brought back the story of the old valuable car.

Most people see the car and think it looks worn out and forgettable.
Put it in certain places and it’s worth nothing.
Place it in a museum and it’s suddenly worth millions.

I’ve helped people who never took my support seriously.
And I’ve helped others in the exact same way who message me weeks or months later with gratitude that stops me in my tracks.

The biggest lesson I took from all of this was the importance of valuing yourself first.

Some of us grew up in environments that didn’t give us much to work with.
Some of us were bullied or dismissed by friends, partners, even family.

Those memories sit quietly in the background and make it harder to see the diamond we actually are.

Until you meet the people who notice you.
Who see the real you straight away.

Who remind you to wake up and recognise the impact you’ve had on lives around you.

People have told me I’ve connected them with opportunities that changed their path completely.

That conversations with me helped them take action and finally become the person they always wanted to be.

Yet I’d still play it down.

There’s something else I realised.

You can have incredible value to offer, but if the timing is wrong, that value goes unnoticed.

Serve someone a three-course meal right after they’ve eaten and they won’t care.

Serve that same meal to someone who’s hungry and has never experienced anything close to it, and it becomes unforgettable.

You might know how to help someone create life-changing results over a year.
But if they’re in a place where they need a quick fix tomorrow, they won’t appreciate the bigger picture that you can actually offer.

This is why it matters to work with people who see your value clearly.
They’re the ones you grow best with.
