So Tesla recently had layoffs. Google is ongoing with their layoffs, and so is Apple. They can't meet their budgetary needs with their performances, so they cut people. Philosophically, I get it. It makes sense. What I can't understand is Tesla's recent layoff, where according to this article, even high performers were cut. It seems to really drive home the fact that no matter how good you are, you're not safe. What a demoralizing, stressful, and crazy making head space to be in. How are people expected to produce when livelihoods are at risk? Even being successful and productive isn't a guarantee. As a psychologist, I can't fathom this type of work environment FOR ANYONE. #hireapsychologist #stress #mentalhealthmatters

Matt Turck’s MAD Landscape stands for Machine Learning, AI and Data. But honestly, it is just straight-up MAD!
 
I mean look at it! It has 2,011 vendor logos in dozens of categories, who each claim to be essential to your data success. How can companies be data-driven, when to be ‘data-driven’ you have to wrap your head around this type of image?

Again consider data quality, there are probably 10-15 different categories of companies on this graphic who will say they can help you improve your company’s data quality, and all will communicate it in a different way:
🏠 💾 Data Lakehouse (e.g., Databricks) – “Your data platform needs to store data correctly in the right structure and make it easily accessible”
👥🔍 Data Governance (e.g., Collibra) – You need to understand who owns and uses your data to keep it clean”
🔗📊 Data Integration (e.g., Snowplow) – “Your analytics data needs to be ingested properly in the right form”
👀📈 Data Observability (e.g., Monte Carlo) – “You need to monitor your data and know where problems happen”
…And the list goes on

Why nobody wants to be a teacher in the US? 

Savvy and highly motivated people can ruin the life of  teachers working at Public schools. They can twist the facts to make a villain out of a saint. Added to that, the left leaning vote seeking groups can turn everything to grab national attention. 

There should be a way out. Tax money is pumped to keep public schools running. People who love to teach and people who love to learn should have their own schools. Let's promote schools dedicated to love for learning and love for teaching. 

One solution could be two school districts instead of one. Liberal and Academic. Liberal schools should focus more on social issues and students rights and parents rights. Academic schools should focus on teaching and learning Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Academic schools should give more leeway to teachers to use various techniques to enhance the learning experience. This would attract more good people to come to the education field. 

Every tax payer should be able to decide where their tax dollar is allocated. Liberal or Academic school districts.  Tax payers should be able to register as either Liberal or Academic when filing taxes.

Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 is the new year for nearly 750 million Indians who follow the Shalivahana Saka (Era) and the Lunar calendar. This is the first day of the spring. This is Chaithra month and is blessed by the star Chithra. 

5000 years of history precedes this day. 

This is celebrated in most parts of India. 

Lunar calendar is 14 days followed by full moon day followed by 14 days followed by new moon day. 

Lunar calendar has given names to every year for the 60 years cycle. Shobhakruth ended yesterday and Krodhi started today. Most humans experience 60 years of awareness. 

Happy Yugadi. 
Happy Gudi Padwa. 
Happy Chaithra Navaratri. 
Happy Navreh. 

In India, languages, rituals, culture, food, and performing arts overlap across the vast subcontinent. Most of us speak multiple languages and enjoy different cuisines and see movies and dramas from many languages. That's why you saw so many names for the new year. 

Today the festival ritual includes eating the bitter neem leaves and the brown sugar (Cane sugar). Neem leaves strengthens immunity. Sweetness and bitterness are to be treated equally in life. It's all in the game. 

Welcome to the Spring season. It's a very special day for Hindus. A day to celebrate the nature.

The American professionals have accused the Indian IT giant of violating laws by discriminating against them and giving ‘preferential treatment’ to Indian workers in the US who hold H-1B visas.

The accusations have sparked scrutiny into the utilization of H-1B visas by Indian IT firms, initially designated for skilled foreign workers. Additionally, American employees have voiced apprehensions about being substituted by 'lower-cost' foreign workers with lower qualifications.

It may be noted that companies sponsor visas for their workers without the obligation to demonstrate the unavailability of Americans with equivalent skills. TCS, with over 600,000 employees, primarily based in India, derives approximately half of its revenue from North America but maintains a comparatively smaller workforce in the US.

No company should allow any employee to force his personal belief on how to run the company. If employees decide that company should stop dealing with a customer because

 
1. The customer has Sunday as weekly holiday
2. Customer doesn't allow certain flags
3. Customer doesn't offer vegan options in its cafeteria
4. Customer CEO is Atheist
5. Customer is in a state that allows abortion
6. Customer sells its products in Egypt and Libya
7. Customer sells to a company that sells alcohol
8. Customer sells to S Africa where there is political corruption
9. Customer is a casino company / Pesticides company / Refinery

 
There will be no business. If such employees force the hands of the employer, then they should be fired.

Amid all the jiggery-wokery of recent times, we’ve grown used to companies either turning a blind eye to employees bringing their Left-wing politics into the workplace, or actively encouraging it with pronoun badges, Black Lives Matter donations and unisex toilets.

This rainbow lanyardisation of modern working life has had the unfortunate consequence of giving some staff, particularly junior employees, the false impression that they are allowed to dictate company policy to the very people who pay their wages.

Companies who tolerate left-liberal principles will be harmed by the same. Never allow employees to dictate how to run businesses. Those whimsical policies will harm the company and the customers with dwindling revenue. 

If left liberals want to start their own business, let them do it. After all, this is a capitalistic country.
