The internship, hosted by Fortis Mental Health Care(sponsored by Sukoona), taught me the basics of therapy training. It gave us assignments on a daily basis for 10 continuous days so that we could have hands-on experience in dealing with a variety of therapeutic procedures as well as diagnosing various disorders and other issues.

Being authentic is one of the biggest competitive advantages you can have.

But it's not just because you show up as your "genuine" self.

There's more to it.

People are drawn to authenticity like moths to a flame.

Isn't it obvious?

Look at the world around you.

Heck, look at LinkedIn itself.

Isn't it tiring to read content that reflects people following the footsteps of others?


Worse?

Look at some of the comments and posts - they reek of ChatGPT.

It's generic. It's boring. It's not worth their time.


Such people try their best to impress.

But authenticity cuts right through it, helping you build trust with the right people.

It helps you cut through the noise.

Back then, I was obsessed with turning my content into something viral.

I was turned down 5 times for my writing. 


It would take me forever to finish a blog.

Worse, I could never write a paragraph without messing up its grammar. 


I started hating it. 

Felt frustrated, irritated, and even a fraud. 

I almost convinced myself to give up without another try at it. 


My family and friends would ridicule me for choosing something so “unstable”. 

“A job would’ve been better”.


I decided to start a blog on Medium — a well-known, public blogging platform.

The platform and its writers inspired me to write again.
 
It built my confidence, skills and my motivation. 


Resources like Jon Morrow’s blogs helped me polish my skills. 

And in a couple of years, I found a mentor who helped me “grow” as a writer. 


I never looked back. 

I bagged multiple clients and took up writing full-time. 

Bought incredible results for them. 


Today, I love what I do. I write.

Most people aren't cut out for this.

- Give up on "personal" time.
- Deal with frequent criticism and self-doubt.
- Pour 2-3x effort with no guarantee of success.
- Spend 12-14 hrs a day working while others relax.
- Throw in 10x patience while others effortlessly cruise past you.

This is what it costs to build something of your own.

Highly risky & expensive, but worth it.

You'll show yourself and others that you have what it takes to make a mark in this world.

No, PPFC isn't some framework or a term someone discovered - I randomly came up with it.

No, my work didn't start showing radical changes the moment I started using them - I had to figure it out along the way.


Looking back I figured out these "major missing" components of my work.

It probably took me over 2 years to do it.

It was worth it.

I don't know much about success, but failure has been my best chance at growth.

Yes, it hurts.
Yes, it can make you cry.
Yes, it will make you feel like giving up.

But hey, no one said growth comes easy.

It comes at the cost of losing.

Also, if you had to give up, why did you start it in the first place?

You knew the cost.

You know what it'll take.

It's just we're too scared to risk it, uncertain about how it'll turn out.


FACT: If you never try it, you'll never know.


After failing to grow an e-commerce business, I never thought I could redirect my passion towards becoming a writer.

Failure opens you up to opportunities and growth.

Over the past 23 months, I have:

➡️ Experienced rejection from countless clients
➡️ Tried to overcome self-doubt & imposter syndrome
➡️ Built a portfolio of diverse content

All of these things have taught me a tremendous amount about what matters in the life of a writer, and what doesn’t.

These are my new 3 rules for life:

1. Embrace rejection as redirection.

I've lost countless opportunities because I was too afraid to be rejected. I now face them guilt-free, knowing I at least tried.


2. Trust the process, not just the outcome.

Understand that growth and learning happen from the process, not just the end goal.

You don't grow when you hit a certain income milestone, you grow when you improve your skillset whilst at it.


3. Celebrate progress, not just perfection.

Publish. Edit. Delete. Publish. Edit. Delete.

I was too preoccupied with the outcome - it never satisfied me. Soon, I shifted my mindset and started enjoying writing & publishing imperfect pieces of content.

I thought I ended my career at 2021 with a failed ecommerce startup.

I thought it was too late to try again.

I thought there was no way I could change careers and become a writer.

I thought I'd never grow if I didn't put myself through enough pain.


The lesson is to start living a life defined by your actions, not fears.

I know it's really hard to believe in something, again, especially when you already lost it once.

But hey, there's no limit - you can try again, and again, and again.


I didn't know I would become a writer right after I gave up on my ecomm startup.

Neither did I know that I would get better at it and actually love doing it.


I didn't want to give up without giving it my all.

So, if you're on the threshold to just let it all go - whether it's in your relationship, work or with your own self - Know when to not give up.

It took me 3 years to move out of a city I hated. 

I planned it. 

Took me months to come up with a solution. 

That's when I came across "writing" gigs and jumped in. 

I made my first $15 in it. 

That was enough for me to risk it all - my biggest bet. 

Next step?

I had to make enough money so no one would question my decisions. 


It's been almost 2 years since I moved back to my hometown. 


Sometimes you don't get to choose your risks. 

It's when you have to put your all in, regardless of what it costs.
